This case takes me back to an August 2011 criminal investigation which began with another police agency coming to my city to conduct a knock and talk with a subject who they learned to be 31-year-old WILLIAM BARKLEY (pseudonym). BARKLEY opened up Pandora’s Box for me and provided an extremely rare opportunity to dive in to his psyche on some level and to learn where a propensity for CSAM could originate.

There are several twists with this episode which brought out emotions for me personally that I had buried pretty deep for reasons you will learn. This is not normally a case I would present because there are real victims, but I feel very strongly that the information shared will no doubt be some of the most unnerving, upsetting, and difficult to hear there are lessons to learn and take away, and that can only make us better in the long run.

I hope that you will stick it out with us through this challenging and difficult case as we embark down a path that leads to a subject who is “SICK in the HEAD.”
