In this weeks rabbit hole we look at NEOM and The Line - the plan by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman to create a smart megacity in the middle of the Saudi desert. They say it's because they're divesting from fossil fuels but it's actually a really weird insane idea with a high chance of spectacular failure.

There's gonna be a resort for tourists, advanced manufacturing, a global trade hub (whatever that is), a film production facility and the crown jewel of the crown prince - The Line - a 170km long mirrored smart city where every breath you take is monitored - but robot maids do your housework and flying cars take you where you are going.

But what's the catch?

Basically everything. Half the tech they have promised isn't even close to existing and the deadlines are VERY soon. This is the vanity project of a madman and you can watch from the ground level as it all unravels in front of the world.
