Fun Fact: the original 1982 Tron is one of Cupcake’s favorite nostalgic cornerstone films. This week he forces WillDaBeast to watch the third film in the franchise: Tron: Ares. Directed by one of the co-directors of the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie and starring up and coming performers Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith and Evan Peters, veteran actors Jeff Bridges and Gillian Anderson, and starring the nearly-cancelled, gorgeous but maybe difficult to work worth and satisfy, questionable celebrity Jared Leto, Tron: Ares dazzles with sizzling CGI effects and a banging Nine Inch Nails score. For a franchise that has only offered three films in FORTY THREE YEARS (!), will this sequel revive the “was it ever there” franchise or is it time for Tron to hit the “Recycle Bin” for good?
