There are lots of true crime documentaries streaming right now, but none as compelling as Amazon Prime’s series The Fake Sheikh.

It tells the story of journalist Mazher Mahmood, who was dubbed The Fake Sheikh when he went undercover and posed as an Arab leader to expose corruption and wrongdoing. 

In a career spanning 20 years Mahmood became known for countless investigations that led to criminal convictions, but he was also criticised for setting up stings that saw lives and careers ruined.

TV presenter and stage magician Jonathan Royle has an amazing story to tell. He tried to expose The Fake Sheikh using an elaborate sting of his own. It backfired and resulted in Jonathan being sent to prison.
