This week we hear about the struggles for women and children living in the shadow of armed conflict in Mon State’s Win Zin village.

Most of the children in the small settlement are forced to leave school early in order to work — sometimes in Thailand — as their mothers can’t afford the cost of schooling outside of the village.

“I want my children to be literate. But I find difficult to send them to another school because I don’t have enough money. If there’s a high school here, it’ll be convenient. I take pity on the children. I want them to study further. But I can’t afford it,” she said.

We will also be hearing the views of people about the increasing of basic food prices after increasing the government staff’s salary.
