College softball is off and rolling! After a wacky opening weekend, Tom Canterbury and Gray Robertson are back to break everything down involving Alabama, the SEC, and a lot of the hot topics around the country. Here's your trip around the bases:  

At the Plate (0:00-18:16): Tom and Gray look back at a very successful weekend in Tucson at the Candrea Classic and touch on the pitching staff’s impressive start, newcomers swinging the bat well, and the power explosion. Then, the guys preview the Easton Bama Bash and the marquee matchup at Rhoads between Alabama and Virginia Tech.  

Advancing to First (18:22-41:57): Tom and Gray go through the opening weekend results in the SEC and discuss LSU’s struggles, Florida’s impressive win over Michigan, underwhelming weekends from Arkansas and Missouri, Tennessee’s offensive struggles, Auburn and Texas A&M taking care of business, and much more. Then, the first FGCL Player of the Week for the 2022 season is awarded.  

Stealing Second (42:05-1:12:55): ESPN analyst, 7Innings Podcast contributor, and UCLA Bruin Jen Schroeder returns to the show and talks about Oklahoma-UCLA in Week One, Alabama’s statement against Arizona, Washington’s offense, LSU’s issues, Miranda Elish’s return, the upcoming St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational, Alabama-Virginia Tech, Tara Henry’s connection to Reese Witherspoon, and so much more.  

Rounding Third (1:13:15-1:28:20): The mailbag is back! Tom and Gray go through your questions and answer them as best they can. Then, the guys look at big non-SEC games in Week Two.  

Heading Home (1:28:25-1:53:04): To close the show, Tom and Gray play “The Overreaction Game,” deciding which crazy statements Gray comes up with are the biggest and smallest overreactions to Week One. Then, “Off the Wall” gets feisty as the guys explain streaming contracts, why blaming ESPN is misguided, and why you shouldn’t send novel-length emails to coaches to provide “tips.” Finally, Tom and Gray discuss where they ate in Tucson in the return of “Tom’s Hungry.”
