I wanted to talk to you about PTSD – as something has been coming back to me in flashbacks at the gym – It was of the day when I was younger and ended up on hospital with my first collapsed lung – my first of 8 from the ages of 15 - 31
Something I didn’t realise I had until someone brought it to my attention.
At the age of 15, I was going about my normal day, when all of a sudden, I started to get a pain in my right side, all the way down my back. I remember vividly where I was (Morrisons Car park) about to go with my dad to do the weekly shop.
I didn’t think too much of it and just carried on with my day, then later on that evening I was sick quite a few times from the pain. I put it down to a sickness bug and spent a couple of days in bed over the weekend.
When it came to the Monday morning, I could no longer lie on my right side as it was too painful.
Little did I know at the time, but my lung had collapsed on that Friday in Morrisons car park.
The book I mention is
Bessel Van Der Kolk - The Body keeps the score
