Allie Ostrander is back on the show, and this conversation was such a joy. Allie is one of the most multifaceted athletes I know—she’s a steeplechaser, trail runner, mountain runner, and content creator on YouTube, and she’s doing it all in a way that’s authentic to who she is. I admire how she’s leaned into the things that light her up instead of feeling boxed into one lane.
We recorded this episode right before Allie raced the Stumptown Twilight meet, where she ran a 9:35 in the steeple—her fastest season opener yet—and took the win. She was tuning up for the U.S. Championships, and we talked about her mindset and training going into that race. We also looked back on her time at Boise State (three-time NCAA steeplechase champ!), her transition into the pro scene with the Brooks Beasts, and now her current chapter with Oiselle.
I loved diving into how she balances training with her YouTube channel and how she uses her platform to speak openly about her experience with an eating disorder, aiming to help others coming up behind her. We also got into some fun stuff—like what shoes she’s into right now and her recent leap into longer distances, including her debut half marathon in 71:10.
Allie is hilarious, honest, and such a strong voice in the running space. I’m always inspired by how she’s evolving and staying true to herself in the process. I know you’re going to love this one.
