In this episode, Dr. Brian Fidler discusses with Dr. Nancy Thomas and Dr. Melissa Hall the personal spiritual disciplines. These are those spiritual practices we engage in that can faciliate the process of growth, personally as well as professionally. We want to be intentional about our own spiritual development, which has a profound impact on our work with clients. The Scriptures say “until Christ is formed in you,” indicating an ongoing process of formation, of becoming. This is an exceptionally relevant area for us in the counseling profession, both in working with our clients as well as in our own character development. Counseling ethics and accrediting bodies look for the counselor to have a level of character quality and growth.
