Core 52: Atonement
Isaiah 53:5
Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed.
Have you heard that verse before? To be honest that verse, as stated, in today’s culture probably does not have much meaning. There are two big “churchy” words at the beginning and it ends with a phrase that really does not make sense to those who have not met Jesus yet. But this verse is so vital to our faith, that it must be understood. It must be shared with others. How can we share this so that others will understand?
This week we will take this verse as well as the chapter around it and break it into each of its parts. Defining each of the key terms so that our culture today can fully understand its meaning and importance to our faith. And so that you can share this amazing truth with others!

Core 52: Wisdom
Proverbs 1:7
Would you agree that Wisdom is in short supply today? We live in a society with more information at our fingertips than ever before. But that knowledge, that information does not seem to be leading to more wisdom. One can be very smart, yet still be a fool. Why? Might it be because knowledge is not the ultimate source of wisdom? This week we will look at a passage from a book devoted to wisdom. What is it that makes one wise? What role does God play?
This holiday season will likely be as busy as ever for you. Would you consider taking a moment to stop and give thanks to God? Or maybe this season has you feeling lonely, lost, or afraid. Whether it is joy or sorrow, God wants to invite you into His family. He wants you to feel His love. We want to invite you to join us at Berea. We would love an opportunity to share God’s love with you and your family.

Core 52: Jesus Rejected wk 13
Psalm 118:22
Have you been rejected? Was it a job, a team, a friend? I could have even been by family members or someone in your community. The pain that comes with rejection is hard to overcome. Nearly all of us have experienced that at one time or another in our lives. Did you know that Jesus experienced the same thing? He was rejected by his family, his friends, the leaders of His day, and many others. But all of the rejection helped to set Jesus up as the cornerstone of our faith.
We want to invite you to join us this week at Berea. We want to invite you to become part of our family. As fall sets in and the holidays approach, we would love an opportunity to share God’s love with you and your family.

Core 52: Messiah
Is He yours?
Psalm 110
Psalm 110 describes Messiah in a very unique way. In fact, it was a way that the religious leaders of Jesus’ time could not fully understand. We know this because Jesus asked them in Matthew 22. Why? Why didn’t they see it? Why didn’t they understand who the Messiah was to be? Why don’t people today accept Jesus?
We want to invite you to join us this week at Berea. We want to invite you to become part of our family. As fall sets in and the holidays approach, we would love an opportunity to share God’s love with you and your family.

Core 52: The Good Shepherd
Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd...have you heard the 23rd Psalm before? If not, please join us this week as we consider the depth of God’s love for us through this amazing passage. If you have heard it, where were you? Why was it read? What does it mean?
The world needs a shepherd. I need a shepherd. In this passage, David shares with us many of the greatest qualities of God through the role of a shepherd. Do we understand what David is saying about His Lord and God? Do we feel the same way about our Jesus?
We want to invite you to join us this week at Berea. We want to invite you to become part of our family. As fall sets in and the holidays approach, we would love an opportunity to share God’s love with you and your family.

Core 52: Prophecy
Psalm 2
What is the Bible about? If you were to introduce it to someone, what would you say? If you are recommending a book to someone for them to read, they are going to ask. What would you tell them? There really is one overarching theme or topic. Some might say that the Bible is all about you. Unfortunately, that is not true. The Bible is however written to you. You are the intended reader. The ultimate author, the one who inspired the words that are contained in this book wrote it for you! Again, if you are trying to convince someone to read the book you can honestly tell them that the book was written for them! What other book can you say that about? What other author deeply knows every one of their readers? What other author actually formed each and every reader inside of their mother’s wombs? I know, it is that personal of a relationship!
Back to the original question, what is the Bible about? Jesus. It is God’s story of how He created and redeemed mankind through Jesus. This week we will take a look at a passage from Psalms that points the way to Jesus.

Core 52: Happiness
Psalms 1:1-13
What is your favorite song? Go ahead, think about it. I’ll wait…is the chorus stuck in your head now? When you hear it, do memories flood back into your mind? Does it bring you to a specific place or time in your life? Does it bring about an emotional response of some kind? How does that song affect you? Music can be soothing, calming, and relaxing. It can hype you up and get you motivated. It can also move you to tears. There is power within music. Even power to bring us into the presence of God. Have you been there? Why do you suppose that God tied our innermost being to respond to music?
Over the next few weeks are going to be looking at some songs that have stood the test of time. In reality, they are eternal. There is wisdom, power, encouragement, and more found in these core verses that are all a part of the book of Psalms. This week our question is simple.
Does God want me to be happy? Please come join us in the Psalms to find out.

Core 52: Set Apart: Jesus and Moses
This week we get to look at two lives within God’s Word that were truly set apart. They were set apart in different ways but for very similar purposes. One’s life is a foreshadowing of the other. One of these lives was used by God to free His people from Egyptian slavery. The other has brought freedom from guilt and shame to all who call upon His name. One’s life is a foreshadowing of the other. It is an incredible example of God’s faithfulness to all generations.
We would love for you to join us to see how this core truth applies to your life today.
It is hard to believe that fall is already here. As fall sets in and the holidays approach, we would love an opportunity to share God’s love with you and your family. There is a place for you within our family at Berea.
