In episode five Matt and I talk with Ben Brazil, Assistant Professor and Director of the Ministry of Writing Program at ESR. In spite of my memory lapse in this conversation, Ben started at ESR in 2013. As he tells us, his education began at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he majored in Journalism and Latin American Studies. He earned a Masters of Theological Studies at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 2005. He completed his doctoral program at Emory University in American Religious Culture in 2015. He has written extensively about the theology of travel, and has been published in the New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times. You can find recently published essays online: “Indiana Winter, Take One” from November 2015 in Topology Magazine and from January 2016, “On Nostalgia, Myth, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” in the web magazine Sacred Matters.
