This week we discuss the unfortunate case of Colton Read, the former airman who went to get his gallbladder removed at Travis Air Force base, but left with both of his legs removed instead. After this tragic incident, Colton is medically discharged from the military with no malpractice compensation. This leaves him and his wife attempting to sue the U.S. government for millions over the botched surgery, only to come face-to-face with the sad realities of the Ferres Doctrine.

Donda West goes in for plastic surgery under Dr. Jan Adams on November 9th, 2007. The next day, her loved ones become frantic as Donda stops breathing and dies shortly after arriving at Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center. As the coroner is left with deciding whether the cause of death was Dr. Adams or Donda's pre-existing health conditions, we see a lot of dirty laundries aired out that tell us it might just be a little of both.

Dr. George Blatti shocked Long Island, New York in 2019 when he was arrested for selling various prescription opioids out of parking lots for extra cash. In 2021, his prescription pad was found to be even more of a lethal weapon when five of his patients end up dead from overdoses. Now, this serial killer physician faces the possibility of a life sentence for over 50 charges ranging from the illegal sale of prescription drugs to second-degree murder.

In July 1951, Phyllis Spath gave birth in Fremont, Nebraska. Nine years later, she discovers part of a suturing needle was left inside her due to surgical mistakes made by the temporary physicians caring for her during labor. To receive compensation for her difficulties, Phyllis and her husband have to take the case all the way to the Nebraska Supreme Court to fight against the physicians, as well as the statute of limitations.

After the Stanton-Davies family's newborn daughter dies from a series of preventable medical errors, the parents urge the NHS to re-examine the many recent maternity ward incidents happening in the mid-2010s at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust. Upon re-opening these cases though, the NHS is left wondering how it can undo the harm brought onto thousands of families from immense systemic failures over the course of 40 years.
