Jesus removes himself from the people of Israel. We work through a difficult text about God hardening the hearts of those who have persistently rejected him and we consider if our hearts are hardened towards Jesus.

In Part 2, Jesus teaches us about the dignity of taking up our crosses, the defeat of Satan when we take up our crosses, and the foolishness of the cross to those who are in darkness. As we see Jesus endure towards the cross, we are challenged to endure.

In Part 1, Pastor Matt preaches through the distress of the cross. Even Jesus had a troubled spirit. Therefore there is such thing as a righteous distress and an unrighteous distress. The Christian is called to emulate Jesus in the midst of fear as he takes up his own cross.

This passage expands on the famous verse John 3:16 to further define Christian belief as a hatred, as a sacrifice of ourselves in order to follow Jesus.

The crowds and even Jesus' disciples misunderstood His entry into Jerusalem. Instead of being a political savior, Jesus came humbly on a donkey to conquer sin and death through the cross. This sermon warns us not to misunderstand Jesus.
