EV Church Sermons

God is the great artist behind the poetic design of the story of Esther. Jez Reynolds shows us how we see the hidden hand of God working a great reversal for his people.

What does it look like to be a Christian? Dave Jensen looks at Luke chapter 9 as Jesus tells his disciples what it means to follow him.

In such a time as this... here Esther's choice to be an active or passive participant in God's plan is made clear. Andrew Heard shares how 'who we are' or choose to be, shapes our identity... and key to either a meaningful or futile life.

The book of Esther, where God is unseen and unmentioned, begins with a demonstration of the immense yet fragile power of King Xerxes. Andrew Heard shows us that this story is all about God's sovereign power and His hand over the narrative.

At the conclusion of the Book of Ruth we see the obvious redemption story in Boaz. Jez Reynolds takes us from Boaz to Jesus, to see the ultimate redemption we have in Him.

Ruth chapter 3 shows us the beauty of noble character in Ruth and Boaz. Honourable, kind, generous, and loyal. Grahame Fuller reminds us of the importance of character in our relationships, yet even more when we look at the trustworthy, faithful, flawless character of God.

Ruth chapter 2 further reveals the characters of Ruth and Boaz, a strong woman and a sacrificial man. Andrew Heard brings us from God's provision in the story of Ruth, to the ultimate provision we find in Jesus, available for us today too!

Far bigger than a love story, the book of Ruth is about God. Andrew Heard takes us through chapter 1, learning from the character of Ruth about true 'hesed' love, God's love for us.

Beginning this series, Jez Reynolds shows us the place of the book of Ruth in the Old Testament. Here, amidst the time of the Judges, we see God's faithfulness to his plan of salvation and the forever King we need, Jesus. Judges 2:6-19.

In Romans 8 we're comforted by seeing God's love for us, even through our sufferings in this life. Grahame Fuller reminds us that God has given us the promises of a future hope, his spirit to intercede, and of his incredible love for us. Romans 8:22-30.
