Amir Khan said the following in a recent interview: 

- "they all want to try now";  

- "People used to say: ‘We are Muslim, we are Asian, we can’t make it in boxing. We’re not going to be picked.’ It’s an excuse that all Asians use – that we’re never going to be picked.";

- "Look at football, for example. There are no Asian footballers [in Britain] but guess what they all say? ‘We won’t get picked because we’re Asian.’ I think that’s a f***ing load of bulls***, really. It’s a load of b****cks. Asians, when we can’t to a certain extent, give up. We don’t have it in us.";

- "It’s curries. It’s not the right diet to be a champion. If you put us against a lot of English fighters their diet is a lot better. They’re stronger than us."  

We discuss whether Asian's are dedicated enough to reach the pinnacle of sport or if we blame factors such as racism too easily.

Scottish GPs sent an open letter via The Times to Caroline Lamb, chief executive of NHS Scotland, asking for meat to be banned from hospital menus in a bid to improve patient health. The letter, signed by four doctors and an NHS consultant, claimed that serving red and processed meat to hospital patients was like “distributing cigarettes in the pulmonary-care unit”. The letter called on NHS Scotland to replace meat, eggs and dairy products in hospitals with “vibrant vegan foods”, to protect the health of Scottish people and the planet.

We take a look at this proposal and discuss the pros and cons nutritionally, economically, environmentally and also morally.

We take a look at the background of the trial, a brief look at the previous UK trial, how social media has vilified Amber Heard and whether that has been justified. We discuss why this was a case where people should not take a side given the complexity of domestic abuse.
