    Motoring journalists have been allowed to drive the Jaguar I-PACE in the snow and ice of Arjeplog in Sweden. First impressions are good, we have more specs with details on range and power.

    Mercedes Benz are investing 11 billion Euro in 6 factories to produce electric cars and the batteries to power them.

    Electrify America has more details on almost 5,000 public chargers coming to U.S. including Level 3 rapid chargers.

    57 new lamp post chargers are installed in London for those EV owners who park on street to have access to charging.

    And finally an interview with BMW reveals more about their plans and targets for electrification.

  • Formula E ‘Batman’ Car, BYD Gigafactory and Audi e-tron Orders Open | 31 Jan 2018

    Tuesday 30th January 2018.

     

    The new Formula E car has been released for Season 5 and it looks like a Batmobile! Faster, twice as powerful and double the range.

    Audi are taking deposits in three countries for their e-tron Sportback full electric SUV to rival the Tesla Model X and the forthcoming I-PACE from Jaguar Land Rover.

    Nissan are leading a consortium installing 1,000 Vehicle To Grid (V2G) chargers aimed at fleet owners to earn money from energy stored in their vehicles when demand is high from the power grids.

    Chinese new energy vehicle maker BYD have their own version of the Tesla Gigafactory, and it’s opening this June.

    BP is diversifying in mobile rapid chargers for electric cars.

    Finally, we look at the industry of local independent mechanics and what their future is when EV adoption grows.

    Congratulations to Mitsubishi which has passed 100,000 sales of their Outlander in Europe, that’s 10% of their sales coming from the popular PHEV. Most are seen in Great Britain and Netherlands.

    Volvo say their first pure electric car will come in 2019, a coupe-like hatchback built on their Compact Modular Architecture, with impressive range.

    First review of the Range Rover PHEV, the first plug in from Jaguar Land Rover.  With 31 all-electric miles from the battery it’s looking like a popular choice for those who want silent luxury.

    Germany is in good shape to welcome electric cars, even if 40% of the vehicle stock were an EV by 2035, a new report reveals that the grid would  be fine thanks to renewables.

    An energy company in Colorado find that replacing coal power generation with renewables is the cost effective option.

    And finally, the Top 5 wireless charging myths debunked by WiTricity on Cleantechnica.
