  • EPS05:42 [Robyn McKay] Understanding Energy and Frequency Significance

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Christine Campbell Rapin

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Robyn McKay ...

Robyn McKay, a psychology PhD holder, launched her coaching business a decade ago, experiencing early success but burning out due to overcommitment. She learned to manage her workload and trauma with mentorship. She now mentors young entrepreneurs, prioritizing meaning over money. Her clients seek help with existential questions and trauma. McKay offers a leadership quiz on her website to prevent burnout and promote self-understanding.

    Key Moments:

    • Robyn McKay launched her international coaching business 10 years ago from a small apartment in Paris, and made her first six figures in the first 6 months. However, she soon burned out from overcommitting and a lack of self-care.
    • Burnout crept up on Robyn gradually as small lifestyle issues like lack of sleep, poor diet and excess alcohol accumulated over time. Her energy and creativity declined, affecting her business.
    • Realizing she couldn't sustain the same pace alone, Robyn made lifestyle changes like returning home to ground herself, and prayed to meet her future husband for support.
    • A year later, Robyn sought a new mentor to help her business, and found Jennifer Longmore who has made a big impact through advice, insights and energy work over many years.
    • Short breaks and vacations are not enough to recover from burnout - deeper healing work is needed on the soul, business, finances and mindset.
    • Self-awareness of red flags is key to interrupting the burnout pattern early. Hard stops can be avoided with more awareness of energy levels.
    • Asking "If not this, then what?" can create a safe landing place during low periods instead of clinging to the same unsustainable path.
    • Mentoring younger entrepreneurs brings Robyn joy and purpose now, as competition is no longer as motivating as meaning and growth.
    • Existential questions of purpose have become more important to Robyn and her clients in recent years.
    • Robyn encourages self-reflection through her leadership quiz to better understand one's energy and set sustainable paces.

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Richard Wray

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Marc Kramer ...

Mark Kramer, the creator of angel investor networks, helps entrepreneurs secure funding by advising them to present detailed financial models showcasing revenue growth. Many entrepreneurs underestimate implementation time and investor priorities, such as recurring revenue and customer retention. Mark organizes a virtual angel venture fair where entrepreneurs can pitch to thousands of global investors.

His key focus is on a robust financial model that demonstrates revenue projections. Additionally, Mark is the executive director of the Private Investors Forum, an author of six books, and hosts the award-winning podcast, The Best Business Minds, with a global listenership in 71 countries.

      Key Moments:

      • Mark Kramer created the first formally organized angel investor network which helped him raise money for startups.
      • As an entrepreneur, having a strong financial model with details on revenue projections and growth plans is very important to convince investors.
      • Investors prefer companies that already have some revenue and proven business model over just ideas.
      • The amount of equity an investor asks for depends on the value they can add beyond just money, like opening doors and helping with sales.
      • Preparation is key when pitching to investors. Entrepreneurs need to know their numbers inside out.
      • Investors want to see high margin scalability and fast growth potential in a business.
      • Exiting through acquisition is more common than IPOs for startups.
      • Details and data in financial projections reduce investors' doubts even if the numbers are wrong.
      • Recurring revenue and customer retention rates are important metrics investors look at.
      • Having the right team and co-founders who know the business well is crucial for fundraising.

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Richard Wray

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Lynda Roth ...

Lynda helps mid-sized businesses stay competitive by implementing modern technology and digital transformation strategies. She specializes in upgrading outdated systems to ERP and CRM systems. About 50% of mid-sized businesses need assistance in updating their technology. Lynda played a vital role in enhancing a distribution company's business intelligence by implementing a new system across multiple locations. Failure to update technology puts companies at risk of losing business to regulators and competitors.

Lynda's success as a COBOL programmer was driven by her dedication to continuous learning and staying updated on new technologies. Her book provides valuable guidance for businesses going through digital transformation.

        Key Moments:

        • Lynda helps mid-market businesses implement information technology solutions to compete in the 21st century. Many of these businesses still rely on spreadsheets and outdated systems.
        • ERP and CRM systems are important for businesses to manage operations and customers effectively, but many mid-market businesses are unaware of affordable options.
        • Lynda started her career as a COBOL programmer in the early days of business computing and started her own software company in the 1980s.
        • She noticed the shift from mainframes to microcomputers and left her company when they refused to adapt, which led to her consulting career.
        • Many businesses still have a manual, non-digital mindset that Linda helps them change through implementing new systems and processes.
        • Around 50% of mid-market businesses still need help updating their IT and systems to compete effectively.
        • Regulators are pushing businesses to modernize their IT to meet compliance requirements.
        • For Lynda, education and landing her first job in IT set her on the right career path early on.
        • Linda's book "Digital Transformation" provides guidance for businesses to survive and thrive in the new digital economy.
        • AI and automation can be valuable tools for businesses, though many are still hesitant to adopt them.

        • EPS06:38 [David Kitchen] Laying Bricks: Building a Business Foundation

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Mechelle McDonald

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is David Kitchen ...

David Kitchen, a leadership coach and author, believes anyone can become a leader, drawing from his own upbringing and single parent household experience. He sees leadership as rooted in character, not background, and values character and shared vision over skills when hiring. His book underscores linking personal and professional values for a strong business foundation. Kitchen presents a pyramid system for cultivating future leaders through conciliarship, focusing on service, familial treatment of customers, and humble front-facing leadership. His aim is to equip numerous individuals with leadership skills for positive community and personal impact.

          Key Moments:

          • Leadership is about being selfless and serving others above yourself. The further up the leadership ladder you climb, the less it is about you as an individual.
          • It's important to connect your personal values and mission to your business values and mission. Your business should be a reflection of who you are as a person.
          • When hiring early employees for your startup, prioritize character, vision, and values over specific skills. Skills can be developed, but character is most important.
          • Surround yourself with people who have different strengths and perspectives from yourself. Balance out your weaknesses by hiring people who think in different ways.
          • Focus on customer retention by truly serving your customers and earning their trust. The more value you provide, the more loyal customers will be.
          • Develop a system for cultivating future leaders within your organization on an ongoing basis. Identify strengths in individuals and put them in positions to develop leadership skills.
          • Connect with people on a human level by sharing your authentic self. People buy from people, not impersonal brands.
          • Get out of your own and your employees' way. Trust that others can accomplish tasks in their own way and style.
          • Implement leadership development methods that have proven effective, rather than constantly reinventing the wheel.
          • At your core, stay focused on serving people and prioritizing human connection over abstract concepts or content.

          • EPS05:41 [Alexis Haselberger] Do More and Stress Less

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Christine Campbell Rapin

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Alexis Haselberger ...

Alexis Haselberger, a productivity coach, aids individuals and firms in efficient, low-stress work. Starting by emailing contacts, she grew via workshops, not just coaching. Learning to decline to preserve capacity was pivotal. A sabbatical refined her focus, prioritizing online courses and group coaching. Begin with a time audit before tactics. Learn more at AlexisHaselberger.com.

            Key Moments:

            • Alexis launched her time management and productivity coaching business after realizing there was a skill gap she could help address, even though she initially thought she didn't have the risk appetite for entrepreneurship.
            • In the early days, Alexis created a basic website for legitimacy and started writing best practices documents to figure out her curriculum and process.
            • Alexis got her first clients by emailing everyone in her contacts asking for introductions, demonstrating the importance of networking and making direct asks.
            • Tracking time, even briefly, helps identify where time is actually going to inform priorities and goal-setting.
            • Being open to new opportunities, like workshops, can help diversify revenue streams beyond the initial service offering.
            • The first few years of a business involve a lot of hustle "planting seeds" through networking and outreach.
            • It's important to recalibrate expectations and capacity over time to avoid burnout.
            • Taking a complete break from work through a "radical sabbatical" provided clarity on priorities and next steps.
            • Shifting to more scalable offerings like group programs and online courses can help address limitations of one-on-one work.
            • Distractions significantly reduce productivity, so minimizing them through simple strategies can reclaim lost time.

He now runs a marketing agency that helps businesses in the adult industry, allowing him to combine his passions and lived experiences to help others achieve their goals.

              Key Moments:

              • Putting yourself out there, whether on a big stage or in your career, and taking risks can be rewarding experiences.
              • Understanding who you are and loving yourself is essential before you can love others.

Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Christine Campbell Rapin

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Becky Paroz ...

Becky Paroz has over 30 years of experience in the male-dominated construction industry. She struggled with challenges as a female engineer but found her voice through coaching. This empowered her to start her own consulting business. Her journey included resets like returning to full-time work, but she always kept her side business. Building her client base was difficult as she learned to narrow her niche. A turning point was realizing how far she had come already. Now she wants to help others avoid her struggles through authoring books on dismantling outdated rules that hold women back. Her upcoming book "Flipping the Bird" encourages ditching rule books of past generations. Becky hopes to reach more people through writing and find new ways to create positive change.

                Key Moments:

                • Becky had a non-traditional career path, starting as one of the few female engineers in a male-dominated field and overcoming health challenges.
                • She discovered her passion for coaching and entrepreneurship through her own coaching courses, which helped change her mindset and self-talk.
                • Building a business was not a straight path and involved resets like returning to full-time work or saying no to certain contracts.
                • Finding the right clients involved narrowing her niche to those who wanted her passionate, opinionated approach rather than trying to appeal to everyone.
                • Pivotal moments included choosing not to give up when faced with health issues, and realizing she had already achieved more than most in overcoming challenges.
                • Becky wants to help others avoid the difficulties she faced through mentoring and sharing her knowledge.
                • She is pursuing authorship to increase her reach and impact through anthologies dismantling outdated myths especially for young women.
                • Becky no longer wants to work on-site in engineering and hopes to empower and support more people through her writing.
                • Recognizing your own progress and value helps empower you to create change for others.
                • Learning to say no creates freedom and opportunities to focus on the right projects and clients.

                  • Disney makes big mistakes at times, but what matters is how leadership responds and takes ownership, regardless of their position.
                  • Specialization and focusing on providing experiences rather than commodities can help businesses differentiate and command higher prices.
                  • Documenting systems and processes and continuously reviewing and improving them is important for business success.
                  • Facing challenges and adversity with tenacity and determination can help entrepreneurs push through and succeed.
                  • Systematizing processes through documented systems and automation can help businesses run with less hands-on involvement.
                  • Focusing on creating memorable experiences for customers that generate emotions can help businesses command premium prices.
                  • Having a coach or mentor from the start of an entrepreneurial journey can provide direction and help avoid wrong turns.
                  • Acting on the feeling that a traditional job is not right for you and following your entrepreneurial instincts can help you make progress sooner.

My very special guest today is Prashant Pandit ...

Prashant Pandit, with 22 years of corporate experience and a decade as an entrepreneur, has worked with renowned international brands and now leads Asia for Cornerstone Holdings. With a diverse background spanning insurance, fashion, and infrastructure, he values ethics and integrity, always opting for industry transformation rather than competition.

Prashant emphasizes the importance of mentors and building a strong team. Currently, he focuses on investing $200 billion in Asian infrastructure projects, advising entrepreneurs to prioritize patience and assembling the right team.

                    • Prashant now pays it forward by mentoring others and sharing his practical experiences.

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Karl Swanepoel ...

Karl is a young entrepreneur who started his freelancing journey at age 13 and founded his first business at 15. His experience living in multiple countries at a young age made him open-minded and less attached to national identity. He overcame challenges in his career by throwing himself into difficult situations and learning from mentors with more experience. Finding the right work-life balance has been his biggest challenge but he has improved over time. His current goal is to raise funds for his freelancing platform Rubberlancer to substantially impact the freelancing industry for the better.

                      Key Moments:

                      • Karl started his entrepreneurial journey at a young age of 13 and sold his first business at 15 years old. He has been successful in establishing multiple businesses since then.
                      • Karl's experience of growing up in different countries has made him open-minded and less attached to national identity. He sees past borders more easily.
                      • Karl realized at an early age that he would not enjoy being an employee, so he decided to work for himself and started freelancing.
                      • Karl has learned to overcome adversity by throwing himself into challenging situations and learning from mentors with more experience.
                      • Karl recommends jumping into the deep end when facing problems as the best way to learn and progress the fastest.
                      • As a beginner entrepreneur, Carl advises taking risks since the consequences are not as severe. It is the time to experiment and have fun.
                      • Learning from mentors with more industry experience has helped Carl advance and avoid pitfalls. He now mentors other entrepreneurs.
                      • Karl's biggest challenge has been finding the right work-life balance. He has learned that continued success requires pacing himself.
                      • Karl's goal for the next 3 to 6 months is to raise funding to scale his freelancing platform Rubberlancer to help change the freelancing space for the better.
                      • Karl is committed to having a positive and substantial impact on the freelancing industry, not just making a name for himself.
