Exciting and New

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Caitie back on the show as they discuss the James Bond film "A View to a Kill".  In this one Roger Moore plays the super spy who is WAAAAY past his prime still bedding anyone who is slow enough not to avoid his advances.  Christopher Walken and Grace Jones are high points as the bad guys.  Tanya Roberts is a staggering low point with her terrible acting.  And of course Duran Duran's music is the only reason to really watch this.  Actually just watch the music video and skip the movie.  You get the majority of the point of the movie in that video (if there is a point to this movie).  Enjoy the podcast.

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Anthony back on the show to discuss the 1985 geriatric sci-fi film Cocoon.  In this one, a bunch of old heads (some younger than one of our hosts) discover the Fountain of Youth in the pool next door.  Oh and aliens while they are at it.  To the surprise of no one, human involvement leads to the loss of both.  It also raises very existential questions like "If you could extend your life and explore the galaxy, would you?" and "If you say no to question one, why are you allowed to live in the first place?" With an All-Star cast (from the 1930s), we will get to the bottom of all these questions.  Enjoy the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Paul and Logan back on to discuss the 1985 adventure film The Goonies.  It took a long time to get everyone together for this one, but it was sure worth the wait.  We dive deep into all the Goon Dock nostalgia of this one, and discuss all the highs (plus a few lows) of this classic.  Andy had famously never seen this one before, while everyone else were long-time fans.   Will that affect any of the scores?  We break down all the great characters and even discuss the famous delete scenes (What octopus, Data?).  This is one of our longer podcasts, but that is because we all had so much fun discussing this one.  Enjoy your Baby Ruths and the podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Charlie to the podcast as they discuss the 1985 comedy classic Fletch.  We complete our Chevy 1985 trilogy with one of the all-time best comedies, with Chevy Chase basically playing himself.  We have been trying to get our friend Charlie off the couch and onto the podcast for 4 years, and it took a movie of this magnitude to get him here.  We all had a great time discussing this movie, and we attempt to answer all the important questions like "Why didn't Mr. Underhill just cancel his credit card?", "Was the doctor using his whole fist?", and the most important question of all "Is it in fact all ball bearings now?"  Enjoy the Podcast!!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Stacey and Adrianne back on the podcast to discuss the 1985 comedy Summer Rental.  John Candy takes the family to the beach for the summer, and he pisses Richard Crena off, so now they have to rumble beach-style.  That's right, it's a boat race.  This movie has some promise, but it seems to fall a little flat.   Rip Torn and Joey (Whoa) Lawrence are along for the ride.  John Larroquette appears for a second in an obvious plot point that got dropped and might have made the movie better.  There might have been an issue with too many people with hangovers participating in this podcast (both on the screen and in the studio).  Enjoy the podcast.
