Exciting and New

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Shamus back on the show as they discuss the 1986 sports comedy The Best of Time.  In this Robin Williams led flick, he has to get the old team back together to replay a football game that his dropped pass caused his team to tie.  TIE??  This ain't soccer.  How can they develope a plot over a tie game?  Anyway, Kurt Russell is the QB and along for the ride, as we wants to capture some of the old glory too.  The casting agent for this movie must have had a hard time finding a bunch of guys in their early 30s to act as the rest of the team, since this really looks like an old timers game at some points.  Anyway, enjoy the podcast!

Jason, Andy and Dana will discuss a 1986 movie weekly, breaking down all the nonsense there within. The 3 hosts all work together and everyone else around them was getting really annoyed at all the movie talk, so they decided to annoy the world in podcast form.

Check out previous seasons to hear them discuss 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1985 movies, as well as a full season of Love Boat episodes (if that is your thing). Plus one-off specials and a weekly mini "what are we watching" podcast.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Troy to the show as they discuss the 1986 comedy The Money Pit.  In this slap sticky movie, Buffey Wilson and Diane Chambers buy a beautiful upstate New York mansion on the cheap, and soon learn why it was so cheap.  Everything from the tub to the oven to the trees to their relationship fall apart.  With crooked contractors, sleazy ex-boyfriends and a bunch of pretentious musicians, how will they ever fix this all up by the end of the movie??  And how quickly can they do it?   I'll give you a hint.  It ain't two weeks.  This also includes one of the best live action Rube Goldbergs ever commited to film.   Enjoy the podcast!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Patti and Paul to the show as they discuss the 1986 comedy Pretty in Pink.  We jump back into the Hughesiverse in this obvious world of make believe where two (TWO!?!) people are actually attracted to Molly Ringworm and viaing for her affection.  This is pretty much marks the end of the unexplainable attraction the movie public had with Molly and the world is a better place for that.  Did she have something on John Hughes or did he have something for her?  The world may never know, but there has to be a reason.  Enjoy the podcast!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Caitie back on the show as they discuss the 1986 musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors.  In this fun romp,, based on an off Broadway play, which is itself based off a 1960 movie, a man-eating plant (which might also be an alien) devourers anyone that gets close to it.  The soundtrack is banging and the cast is packed with All Stars, although most of them only get a sceen or two to shine.  We discuss the multiple endings (the happy one vs. the world conquering one), all the time the movie was referenced in Family Guy and whether Andy truly likes musicals, or just Grease.  Enjoy the Podcast!

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana discuss the 1986 martial arts drama The Karate Kid II.  Who knew that the Karate Kid was a Roman Numeral deserving franchise?  In this sequal to the 1984 franchise starter, Daniel-san and Mr Miyagi take their kicks on the road and travel across the Pacific to the island of Okinawa to set right wrongs that have festered for decades.  You know what to except in these movies, but there is something fun about the foreign location that adds to this one and saves it from just being a cookie cutter sequel.  And if you watched Cobra Kai (which you should do), this is important viewing since one of the characters introduced here is very important to that show.  Enjoy the podcast!
