KITTY O'NEAL is one of those Sacramento icons! For 37 years, O'Neal has been gracing us with her golden tones as the host of the afternoon news from 4-7 p.m. on KFBK 1530 AM (and 93.1 FM) in Sacramento. In fact, Kitty was part of the 100-year celebration for the long-standing radio station that was celebrated earlier this year. Sacramento is special to Kitty. And that is saying a lot coming from someone who grew up in a military family where stability never lasted long. And there is more. She sings in a band along with her husband Kurt Spataro. Yes, the same Spataro who is one of the exclusive Executive Chefs in Sacramento. In today's episode, we unveil it all and then some.

HOST STEVE BUZZARD on Kitty |  "It's always an honor to speak to someone like Kitty. Her career has been amazing. She is definitely a pillar in the Sacramento community!"  Our conversation hits TWO areas:

• SEGMENT 1  ★ | TBA
• SEGMENT 2  ★  | TBA

Our Connection |  I have had the fortune of working with Kitty on two occasions. With me as the auctioneer and Kitty as the emcee, I think we made a great team.

RYAN BIGELOW is wise beyond his years. At 20 years of age, Bigelow is a great representation for the Gen Z entrepreneur. Take note. A Sacramento native, but now a resident of sunny San Diego, here is what Bigelow has on his resume. Part of Juice Plus, The Move Club, Krav Maga Academy, Personal Training, Bodybuilder, Point Loma Nazarene Media Services and Chapel Tech. One more. Music Director at Emmanuel Anglican Church. Wow! How does he do it? Today is your day to find out.

HOST STEVE BUZZARD on Ryan |  "It still blows my mind that Ryan is only 20 years old. You will have fun when we get to the part when he shares his daily schedule. That's all you need to know. I am proud of Ryan and know that will continue to do big things and make a difference in this world."  Our conversation hits TWO areas:

• SEGMENT 1  ★ | Ryan takes us through his journey. We start from the beginning and see how going from a small pond at Sacramento Waldorf to the big sea of Jesuit High School shaped him. Bigelow shares his journey with athletics as well as his big jump to college in Southern California. We begin to speak about being an entrepreneur and how that came at an early age.
• SEGMENT 2  ★  | Begins with where Ryan is currently with his multitude of projects as a 20-year old living in Sunny San Diego. Ryan breaks down some cool things including his schedule (it's packed) as well as his thoughts about being a young Gen Z entrepreneur. Must listen, especially for you young entrepreneurs out there.

Our Connection |  Ryan stepped into my Buzzardball Summer Basketball Camp as a 4-year old basketball phenom (HaHa!). The kid loved basketball and attended my camp for his K-8 years. In addition, he became an assistant coach at my staff. He is a natural leader and natural with kids. It has been fun watching him grow up.

KAYLA DALE loves her job! Try this on for a title. Kayla is a Risk Reduction Officer at the Amador Fire Protection District. Yes! She works in an office. This soon-to-be mother has energy and confidence. Her passion turned into starting a non-profit called SMOKECHASERS which celebrate its second year in May with a festival that mixes family fun with an engaging way to prepare for and respond to emergencies. Oh yeah ... if that wasn't enough, Dale also is an independent leader in her side hustle called Mōdere.

HOST STEVE BUZZARD on Kayla |  "Kayla and I had never met until we started our conversation. Right away her energy and confidence was off the charts. She is such a great representation of being an entrepreneur.  Our conversation hits TWO areas:

• SEGMENT 1  ★ | TBA
• SEGMENT 2  ★  | TBA
• SEGMENT 3 (HEAVY METAL THUNDER) 🤘🏼 | Another segment of HMT as Buzzard takes a look at the 1982 Classic "Standing Hampton" by the Red Rocker himself Sammy Hagar. Take a trip down memory lane with Buzzard as he recounts the great tracks like "Heavy Metal" and "There's Only One Way to Rock."

Our Connection |  This is the beauty of the podcast. A former guest Andrea Gebhart (Episode 71) reached out to me and suggested I have Kayla on the show. The two of them are teamed together through Mōdere. Say no more. I had full trust in Andrea!

JACKIE COURSEY is a LIFE COACH. Her coaching has a specialty with helping those with NEURODIVERGENT functions. What is neurodivergent? I am glad you asked. Neurodiversity describes people whose brain differences affect how their brain works. That means they have different strengths and challenges from people whose brains don't have those differences. The possible differences include medical disorders, learning disabilities and other conditions (ADHD, Autism, others). What a gift. And today, Jackie shares her insight on Experience the Buzz.

HOST STEVE BUZZARD on Jackie |  "Jackie is an amazing woman. Four adopted children ranging from ages 14-29 . She admits to having ADHD. She has worked in the non-profit space for many years. Mix it all together and Jackie is exactly the person I would imagine who would be a successful Neurodivergent Life Coach." Our conversation hits TWO areas:

• SEGMENT 1  ★ | Jackie kicks off the episode by letting us know how her journey brought her to becoming an autism life coach. We get an inside look to the services Jackie provides through her business called Sacred Space coaching. We also get an education on what a life coach is and isn't. Great knowledge in this segment
• SEGMENT 2  ★  | We open the segment by talking about the kids. It's a pretty amazing story. We dive into the entrepreneur piece of Jackie's journey. And we wrap up with some miscellaneous subjects that wrap up this amazing conversation.
• SEGMENT 3 (HEAVY METAL THUNDER) 🤘🏼 | Another segment of HMT as Buzzard takes a look at the latest release by Iowa's Slipknot called, "The End, So Far." Does it measure up to Steve's love for Heavy Metal? Tune in to find out.

Our Connection |  I have known Jackie and her family for many years. I had the honor of teaching three of her four kids at St. Michael's Episcopal Day School in Carmichael, CA. It has been awhile since we last connected which made this reunion so special.

BRUCE + LORI ANAPOLSKY are part of an amazing family tradition. Since 1922, Julius Clothing has been in business in Sacramento. It started in 1922 when Grandfather Julius Anapolsky opened what is called a haberdashery on K Street. Bruce's parents Sam and Sharon took over the business in the 70's. Sacramento's Staple in High End Fashion was in Country Club Plaza before landing in its current home at Pavilions in Sacramento. Three generations! And what you will learn today will center around the 'EXPERIENCE' of walking through the doors of Julius Clothing. What a great way to celebrate Episode 100!

HOST STEVE BUZZARD on Bruce + Lori |  "Think about that for a second. Here I am celebrating 100 episodes in almost two years of work. And today I get to speak to a power couple here in Sacramento celebrating 100 years of a family business that has stood the test of time. It's impressive!" Our conversation hits TWO areas:

• SEGMENT 1  👔 | begins with a history lesson behind the origin, formation, and growth of Julius Clothing.
• SEGMENT 2 👗 | gets into the nuts and bolts of becoming a real estate agent and starting your own company. Gray outlines the path it takes to become either a real estate agent or broker. This is great for young entrepreneurs to hear. Dana outlines everything it took to launch Gray Real Estate Team. And then we finish off with some myths about real estate agents as well as pearls of wisdom regarding being an entrepreneur.
• SEGMENT 3 (SPECIAL SEGMENT) 🐝 | to honor the 100th episode of Experience the Buzz, I reached out to my former guests and asked them to record a video about their experience on the podcast. The segment kicks off with a letter written by the show's top listener Dee Coughlin, who has listened to every episode. The videos are fun! And with that ... I THANK YOU for being a listener of the show. I look forward to bringing you the next 100 episodes!

Our Connection |  I have known Bruce and Lori for a long time. Our kids grew up together, notably their son Jordan and my son Max. I had the honor of being the DJ for Morgan's Bat Mitzvah (that one was fun). I admittedly have never been to Julius, but that is going to change after this episode. I am making the visit for sure!

EPISODE 98 My podcast journey began in January 2021. Steve Buzzard loves the podcast world. With a background in broadcasting, Buzzardball was inspired by a few friends that also had podcasts (Thank you Deirdre Fitzpatrick + David Richards)! Experience the Buzz was born with one thought in mind ... spotlight ENTREPRENEURS, SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS, and PERSONALITIES from the Capital City of Sacramento! 97 episodes later and it has been a blast! It really is an opportunity to have conversations with people I have wished that I could sit down with and hear their story. And that's exactly what ETB has done!

Today's EPISODE  has TWO segments to bring your way:

• SEGMENT 1 🐝 | Highlights the Experience the Buzz journey. Steve Buzzard discusses some of the incredible guests that have been on the program. The curtain gets pulled back into what went into making the decision to start a podcast to then following through and taking all the necessary steps to go LIVE for the first time.
• SEGMENT 2 🎸 | HEAVY METAL THUNDER Installment No. 5! Very excited to put the spotlight on a heavy metal masterpiece ... MASTODON'S "Leviathan" that houses my all-time heavy metal anthem "BLOOD AND THUNDER."

DEIRDRE FITZPATRICK has been a fixture in Sacramento TV. Since the persistent and confident graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia arrived on the scene after her first job in Des Moines, Iowa. Since 1997, Fitzpatrick has been a part of the news team at KCRA Channel 3. She started as the Weekend News Anchor doing five hours of news on her own. That transitioned into her becoming the Morning News Anchor for many years with Walt Gray and currently with Teo Torres. In addition, Fitzpatrick has covered the last 12 Olympics and hosts her own podcast called "Dying to Ask." One word: IMPRESSIVE!

HOST STEVE BUZZARD on Deirdre Fitzpatrick |  "Deirdre knew from a very young age what she was going to be doing in her lifetime. And through what she shares, it is fascinating and inspiring that her determination, confidence, persistence, and will got her to where she wants to be as a TV anchor." Our conversation hits TWO areas:

• SEGMENT 1  📺 | focuses on Deirdre's journey to Sacramento. That's right. From watching Walter Kronkite with her dad and delivering Manhattans from mom's kitchen to landing in the Capital City in 1997.
• SEGMENT 2 📺 | looks into Deirdre's work with the OLYMPICS. It was a pivotal moment for Deirdre and what allowed her to make the decision to move to the Weekday Morning News Anchor position (after turning it down three times). We discuss her podcast "DYING TO ASK" and finish up her love for running. Overall ... a tremendous conversation that I was DYING TO HAVE with Deirdre. We did it.
• SEGMENT 3 ⚡️ | Host Steve Buzzard bring you another installment of HEAVY METAL THUNDER. Today's spotlight is on Van Halen's '5150' ... the first album featuring lead singer Sammy Hagar as the band's front man. It was VH's first album to reach NO. 1 and has a special place in the heart of the host.

Our Connection |  I thought our first connection was through our work together at the California International Marathon Expo a few years ago. No .... Deirdre reminded me that our first encounter was at a Kid Birthday Party that I hosted when her now teeanger son was 6 or 7 years old.

CLIVE SAVACOOL spent over 25 years of his life as a First Responder. Five years as a paramedic was followed by time as a firefighter and then rising to the ranks of Chief Officer and eventually Fire Chief with Garden Valley Fire in South Lake Tahoe. On May 6th, 2022, Savacool decided to walk away from it all. The decision was two-fold. The grind and the stress of being a Fire Chief was weighing heavily on Savacool daily. The other reason is why we are here. Savacool developed an APP called LogRx that helps the tracking of narcotics in the field. Hard to believe that this is still done with pen and paper around the country which would tell you ... Savacool and the LogRx team are onto something. Today we explore it all. The app and life as a firefighter.

HOST STEVE BUZZARD on Clive Savacool |  "What struck me the most is Clive's ability to know when to walk away and welcome a new chapter in his life. He did that with motorcyle riding. He did that with what was a long career in firefighting. And now he is in a great space with something he invented out of his experience in the firefighting industry.  Our conversation hits TWO areas:

• SEGMENT 1  🚑 | dives into everything regarding the LogRx app. What it does. How it works. And the clients that Clive and his team have on board. We discuss the victories and the challenges that come along with developing this type of app.
• SEGMENT 2 👩🏼‍🚒 | is a full breakdown of Clive's journey as a motorcyclist, a paramedic, a firefighter, and then his work as a Chief Officer and Fire Chief. We discuss the 2021 Caldor Fire in which Clive helped put together an evacuation plan.

• SEGMENT 3 🎸 | HEAVY METAL THUNDER makes its debut as I give a FULL review of the very first metal album I purchased. Drum roll please 🥁 ... Iron Maiden's 1982 release of "Number of the Beast." Full listen, EVERYONE KNOWS THE RULES!

Our Connection |  Clive is one of the few guests that I didn't have a connection with until doing the podcast together. Clive was suggested by a mother whose son attended my Buzzardball Basketball Camp. She thought Clive would be a great guest. And you know what? She was right.
