SCOTT GILBERT has been doing his thing for 30 years! In 1992, a younger Gilbert opened Getta Clue Clothing Store which has been an institution in Sacramento when it comes to street fashion. In recent days, many might think of the iconic Spike Lee that serves as the entrance to Getta Clue in DOCO. The BIG NEWS is that Getta Clue is moving to Arden Fair to join Gilbert's other Clothing Store called Goodstock. This is nothing new to Gilbert, who shares that he has opened 21 different locations over the years. Today we find out his story.
In today's episode of Experience the Buzz, Host Steve Buzzard spends time with the Sacramento fashion icon"I am amazed, but not surprised that Scott has been at the forefront of something very unique. He certainly has the entrepreneur spirit and has found a way to do what he does very well and over a long span of time. That's success in my books. Our conversation hits THREE areas:
- SEGMENT 1 👟 | gets right into the journey of Getta Clue. We discuss the big move and what was behind closing the doors in DOCO and relocating to Arden Fair. And then we take it back to the very beginning when a summer in London changed everything for Gilbert. If you are a Sacramento native, you are going to recognize a lot of what Gilbert discusses.
- SEGMENT 2 👟 | is a great segment as we continue to talk about the evolution of Gilbert's stores that included the DOCO location and an amazing partnership with the Sacramento Kings. Then the discussion shifts to being an entrepreneur. This is where Gilbert drops some nuggets of gold to any entrepreneur listening.
- SEGMENT 3 👟 | finishes off a great conversation discussing the importance of mentorship that was established through Getta Clue. We mention a former ETB guest Mike Steeze, who sells his merchandise through Scott's store. Gilbert shares with us his childhood and takes us out strong with some finishing thoughts.
Our Connection | Scott's boys have participated in my Buzzardball Summer Camp. Scott also got me connected with Mike Steeze, who produces my favorite shirt (Sacramento Versus Everybody). Scott also gave me my first SVE t-shirt during the pandemic. Still have it to this day and have added at least seven more to the collection.
