Transit officials in San Francisco are rolling out a plan to extend metered parking hours in the City. Most meters currently operate between 9am and 6pm, with free parking on Sunday. Starting soon, drivers will have to pay until 10pm Mondays through Saturdays, and between noon and 6 on Sundays. The City has been trying to get people to come back to Union Square and to patronize other local businesses. This isn't going to help. What's behind the plan?
