So the name "Irish Restaurant Company" may not be too familiar, but if I were to say Galway Bay, Killarney House, Brian Boru, Pirates Cove, or Egg Nog, you might perk up!

Today, we speak with GM Sean Lynch,  and co-owner Anthony Clarke about their four restaurants and how each has become not only a restaurant in a community but a part OF the community. From fundraising dinners to making the staff and customers feel truly like family. 

We talk about the Axis of Evil (trivia team at Galway's Pub Quiz Night) and their donations to Box of Rain; and the $800,000 in charitable contributions that the Irish Restaurant Company has facilitated and contributed to that goes back to our community.

Galway Bay got a renovation recently as did Killarney House, and up this winter--Pirate's Cove! New menus and of course, egg nog.

Yes, the famous Galway Bay Egg Nog is currently on a slow boat from Ireland, and this year they are bringing in 2 containers worth--according to Anthony it is about 4,600 bottles! But you can find it at any of their restaurants, most area liquor stores, and even online (but they cannot ship so you need to pick it up at a restaurant).  And don't forget, the special Galway Bay Egg Nog Ice Cream is available too in partnership with Always Ice Cream!

Truly a great organization and a great bunch of people!

Jock Bartley is a founding member of the iconic 1970s band Firefall. After giving us hit after hit like Cinderella, You Are The Woman, and Just Remember I Love You, they are still going strong and will be appearing at Rams Head On Stage on Friday, October 27th for one show!

There's a new school in town, and it is likely coming to the Annapolis Mall!

New Village Academy is a different type of public high school designed to allow those who have "checked out" of school to realize their full potential by teaching differently! With a focus on mentorship, internship, and peer support, this new school has received the green light from the Anne Arundel County Board of Education to move forward and begin to accept students beginning in the fall of 2024.

We sat down with the founder/brainchild of the school, Romey Pittman (yes, she is the sister of Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman) and Darius Stanton, President of the Governing Board to learn a lot more.

This is a tuition-free public school that understands that reading, writing, and arithmetic are not for everyone. This is a public school that understands that students thrive when they are engaged and that not everyone engages in the same way. This is a public school that is poised to set Anne Arundel County apart from the crowd when it comes to educating our children. Have a listen!

Titan Hospitality Group is moving and shaking! On the shaking end of things, the former Smashing Grapes in Annapolis will soon become The Lodge Annapolis, while Smashing Grapes in Gambrills continues on and will be joined by another one in Columbia. Blackwall Barn and Lodge just opened a new location in Columbia and they are eyeing up a place in The Rotunda in Baltimore. And of course, the Alexandria and Annapolis Blackwall Hitches are delighting diners as always.
