Today...A new strain of COVID has been discovered in Maryland. The State has advised the County that they will be reducing their vaccine allotment to focus on private delivery and mass vaccination sites. The AAEDC has a fantastic new program for minority, woman, or veteran owned businesses. TD Bank is closing their area branches and BB&T is also closing their Eastport branch--Severn Bank is a great alternative. Today, we speak with Rachel Varn who is the owner of Pedal Power Kids. After seeing parents sending their kids to swimming lessons, she decided there needed to be bike lessons. And she was right!  Now, schools and communities call on Pedal Power Kids to help teach their kids how to safely ride. Plus there are camps and events throughout the year as well. Today...County Executive Pittman signed the EO to relax the resrictions! The Anne Arundel County Public Libraries will continue their pause through February. The Stae Senate is looking to INCREASE Governor Hogan's reliefe bill by $500 million. Southwest is asking employees to take a voluntary furlough. Today...County Executive Pittman is expected to sign an EO today easing up on restrictions. Governor Hogan announced some more Federal help and some mass vaccination sites. Both are a bit peeved with the way things are working--or not. But the teachers are REALLY peeved according to a 4 page letter sent to the Governor. The Naval Academy ALumni Association & Foundation has put historic Ogle Hall up for sale along with the two other buildings on the property; the prietag is $4 million and includes parking. Make sure you get a ticket to Athletes for the Arts tonight at Maryland Hall--it will be awesome as is everything at Maryland Hall. Today...Lidl has announced the grand opening of their first Annapolis store in the former Shopper's location--February 3rd! Governor Hogan said Dr. Kalyanaraman didn't know what he was talking about. County Executive Pittman was upset. Somehow we were shorted 2000 vaccines. And while the State is in 1C for vaccine distribution, Anne Arundel is in a portion of 1B. Today...Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a sexual abuse of a minor case where a Pasadena man provided alcohol to his child's friend, and then rcorded and abused the victim. PG County Police are investigating a fatal shooting that ended up just over the County line in Anne Arundel County. Comptroller Franchot has said that his office will begin accepting tax returns on February 12th this year. Annaplis Tours is offering a fantastic Black History Month tour every Saturday in February. And Godiva chocolates is the latest COVID victim and will be leaving the mall by the end of March!
