A large fire destroyed a building in Davidsonville this weekend, but scant information from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. We have a new top speller in the County-- Quint Karlsson from Crofton. Anne Arundel County has launched a Non-Profit Events Hub. The Hospice of the Chesapeake has named a new President and CEO. And the State Board of Revenue Estimates has bad news for Maryland--we're looking at a nearly quarter billion dollar shortfall this year! Dr. Freedman from Evolve Direct Primary Care was our go-to source during COVID-19, and his advice and guidance were invaluable. Today, we swing back to his office to discuss his practice and how it works, as well as two treatments that have been in the news lately. Ozempic is touted as the wonder drug for weight loss. And to a degree, it is. But we discuss some finer details you may not have known.

We can never forget the women in our lives who care and nurture us! Mother's Day is coming up in May. Those are the facts!

Zachary's Jewelers started a tradition 13 years ago. They asked some fifth graders in Severna Park to honor their mothers by sketching a piece of jewelry and explaining it. The winners were presented with their designs, which were brought to life by the designers at Zachary's.

Fast forward 12 years, and the tradition continues! Every fifth grader in Anne Arundel County (public, private, or home-schooled) is encouraged to create a design to honor their mom! Three winners will be selected and presented with a beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece of beautiful jewelry. The good news is that you do not need to be an artist; you only need to know why your mom is special to you! The bonus--if you win, not only will your mother get an incredible gift, but your art teacher will get a $500 check to help pay for materials in the classroom. But time is of the essence! The Anne Arundel County Police are investigating the first murder of 2024. Angelo Harrod was found guilty of shooting Michelle Cummings in 2021, and his appeal is being heard. The Annapolis Police are backtracking statements they made about a woman they arrested refusing help from the Crisis Response Team; the team did not respond. Beware of a messaging sign on Forest Drive--it looks like a police car with blue and red strobes but is really a help-wanted ad. The Bowie Baysox Family Fun Fest is March 23rd. We all heard the stories about the Taylor Swift Eras tour and how much people paid for tickets, right? Well, it is not solely the domain of pop star billionaires. Take a look at the screenshots above (and below), which were taken within seconds of one another. Which ticket would you rather buy to go see Maggie Rogers?

Our legislators are considering two bills to stop this predatory activity by making selling at a higher-than-face value illegal! And they will make speculative tickets illegal. The artists support this. The venues support this, and of course, consumers support this. It's complex for sure, and today we speak with Audrey Fix Shaffer, the Director of Communications for IMP, the region's largest producers of shows to break it all down for us. But the TL;DR of this is two-fold. Tell your legislator you support Senate Bill 539 and House Bill 701. The links to find your legislator are below. And two--don't wind up with a counterfeit ticket, make sure you are buying from the source, links below for that as well!
