Ephesians 6:10-24
What do you think would happen if you were an athlete and you knew that you had already won the game before you even started? How do you think that would affect your performance? Would you go through the motions? Would you try even harder?
It’s kind of a catch 22, because you would have to play well to win and yet you knew that you already won, but still had to do what was necessary to win. That would be weird, wouldn’t it? But in some ways that is what Jesus’ situation was like. He was God, He knew he was going to win, yet he had to play a certain way and do it perfectly in order to have this victory.
So obviously the ultimate victory is rising from death to eternal life in Christ. But in the meantime, as there was for Christ, there is a battle waging that we have won in Christ, but still must fight. We have won the game if we are in Him, but we still need to play and use the gifts and armor that he provides.
So, we end our series in Ephesians kind of like we started, with an emphasis on being in Christ for the victory, and that’s the only way to be labeled Victorious!

We understand light… it is a normal element. It affects … everything; it defines day and night; it provides photosynthesis to plants to make them grow; and it gives us a tan in the summer. There’s a saying I grew up with:
“The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians! They praise God with their lips, but walk out the door and do not let on by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.”
We have been given this unbelievable gift of light, yet we forget that sometimes. We forget that we are to live a life that shows it!
From this part of Ephesians, Paul let’s us know that you are light and that means The truth is revealed in you. Light shows you what has been hidden. Light reveals the full scope of evil. That Shining your light, your presence will reveal darkness around you, helping you to avoid pitfalls and help others with wrongdoing.

What is Christ’s gift to you? Well, it’s the spoils of His victory over sin and death. We know that he has all authority in heaven and on earth, he has inherited all of creation. So, the measure of his gift is unlimited. There’s the idea again of Jesus, by the nature of his victory, taking his own people captive as King and Lord, but also giving us gifts. They are all His and He can give them as he chooses, in the measure He chooses. We can’t choose how God gifts us, our job is to identify what He gives us and walk according to those gifts. What has God gifted you to do? What will you do with the gift(s) that have been entrusted to you?

Most of us don’t feel like fighters. Many of us in these days are just wondering what we ought to do or how to stay put. And so sometimes we need a little fighting spirit. You may feel particularly weak. Ephesians 6:10 says, “Be Strong in the Lord!” It’s the same power by which He caused Jesus Christ to be raised from the dead. That’s the power of His mighty strength.
You and I are not told to muster up our own reserves of courage, we are told be strong in the Lord, in the strength of His might. We depend upon Him. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is to rely on someone else stronger than yourself. And in this case, and in every case, we rely on God. So live with the label I am Strong!

Ephesians 1:1-5; 6:1-4
You need to know today that if you follow after Jesus, that you are Fathered. If you are truly a child of God, then you will look like your Father. How do you do that? You must spend time with Him. You need to be in His word. You need to do what He tells you to do. You cannot rebel against Him. You need to act like joint heirs, not trust fund kids. You bear the name of Jesus as Christian; therefore, you must represent Him in everything you do.
The most important person in your life is your father. He has more power than anyone to influence you – for good or for evil. Hearing the word “father,” does it conjure up amazing memories, or does it cause you to sense loss because he has abandoned, betrayed, failed you? What kind of father are you or will you be? Why not strive to become like Father God. And bless your children the way He has blessed you?

Ephesians 2:11-22
Does anybody here have an enemy? Someone with whom you are at odds? Or you just don’t like?
We live in a deeply divided world. People hate each other based on religion, race, nationality, economics, status, and even sports teams. I’m betting that some of you have enemies; you have people with whom you need to be reconciled.
The good news from Ephesians is that in Christ, God has reconciled you to Himself. God is your friend! He is for you, not against you! That’s what we’re talking about today.
God has reconciled you—forgiven all your sin—you only must accept it and walk with Him as your new friend. God is your friend! He is for you, not against you.
In Christ, God reconciled the world to Himself—everyone! So why isn’t everyone acting reconciled? Why are so many people still at war with God? The short answer is that we need to tell them the good news. “The war is over. God has forgiven you. He’s for you, not against you. God is your friend, not your enemy. Turn to Him and receive the gift of full forgiveness, total reconciliation.”

Death never seems so real until you face it for the first time. Maybe that was the time you ran out in front of a fast-moving car. Or the time you went rock climbing and slipped.
Today we find that Christ awakens you by giving you life. He has given you his Spirit to live inside of you, to guide you, to strengthen you. The deal is you are not your own anymore. Life is not about you. The Spirit enters the hearts of broken people and produces life in them. Come and claim the identity of being made alive in Christ. Don’t trifle with a very serious, loving, and severe God. Alive children of God are known by their fruit. Enjoy the life-giving sweetness of the fruit that is Alive in you!

In Christ you are blessed to the glory of God, not so that he can glorify us. You should reflect and recount the ways God has blessed you, and then use that recollection of blessings to encourage you in times when it’s tough or finding struggles. And this is what you can share with others that will in turn glorify God even more. The blessings you have in Christ help in the make up of your spiritual identity.
You have already received your glory and all the spiritual blessings God can give, now you are to glorify Him, and again this gets back to your identity as God’s image bearers. So, come and find ways you can glorify God because of the spiritual blessings He has given you.

What does the Bible teach about worship? True worship is importance, because the Father is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. It refers to worth ship, God is worthy to be praised. It stems from a heart that overflows with gratitude. Our worship is reinforced with godly living.
True worship is seen in the fragrance of worship prepared in the Old Testament.
Your worship goes well beyond what you might experience in the building of a church. Worship is a way of life and daily living. We experience God in our everyday and in the mundane. God journeys with us at every moment and we reflect who He is and how much we need Him always.
The ability to worship God in the beauty of holiness is what we all want to develop. We all want to develop the ability to worship God on a deeper level.

One last foundation, that is also one of our core missions to to have compassion for people. Jesus was about having compassion for people. Christ-like compassion moves you to meet the needs of others. This comes from having the right understanding of compassion. It is not merely a sentimental feeing or emotion. Perhaps you take pity on someone in trouble, but compassion is more than that. Or perhaps you feel sorry when you hear about someone who is suffering. Compassion is being moved to action and not just shed a tear. You look for ways to help, assist, listen, or move toward our Savior who can help.
Christ-like compassion administers the Right remedy for the needs of others. It’s isn’t just a matter of giving to them, but of giving them what really matters. Compassion requires you to be sometimes tender, and sometimes tough. Either way, you are trying to help restore and provide what someone needs.
