In chapter 4 of 1st John, we see a comparison of the antichrist and those who truly are following God. What's the difference? Simply put, love is the difference. Who we love, what we love and how we love are all markers of a follower of Jesus.

Just like so many other believers, you may have a hard time believing that you’re valuable to God. You know your past and everything you’ve done wrong. So you doubted God truly loving and valuing you.
Many Christians suffer from self-hatred, insecurity, feelings of rejection, and loneliness. This is because of their failing to comprehend how God sees them and how He feels about them. How they see themselves obstructs their view of how God sees them.
Let’s see what God says about how He views us in 1 John 3. God loves ALL people, but only the believers are His treasure. We seem to be more aware of our shortcomings than who we are to God. Did you know that you are God's treasure and deeply loved? Live in the truth of who you are in God. God wants to be both your treasure and your treasurer by reminding you that you are His while inviting you to a process of pruning and polishing to reveal our full potential.

Here is our real Hope: the truth is that love wins. Our passage today is good news. You and I can know that our sins are forgiven, we can grow in our knowledge of God through Jesus, and we can overcome evil. When we understand who we truly are as God’s children through faith in Jesus, we will learn the power of an abiding love for God that desires to do His will. To put it more simply, when you know your identity in Christ, you will pursue an abiding love.
John is writing to a community of Jesus followers who have their own deceptive teachers who may be tempting some to walk. He writes so that they will hold onto the Hope of Jesus Christ and learn to love in a way that puts things right. Time to love right and wrong and truly love the One brings both into perspective.

There comes a moment where there is a collision where what the church is to be about actually takes steps to run into people. Why? Because people matter to God so people matter to us. We need people and people need us. Jesus knew this about the makeup of humans.
Jesus left the church with a purpose. It’s a good one, but it means meeting it up with people that need it. It will interacting with them and loving them through their experiences. Let’s see how we did last year and let’s look ahead at the needs of people and live passionately for them.

What do you hold dear to you? What do work at with everything in you to be better at? These are questions every believer in Christ needs to daily ask themselves when it comes to living for a love of devotion to Jesus. This is the church’s mission for sure, but that means, as the church, that it’s yours too. What does the living for the love of devotion to Jesus looks like? It incorporates devotion to prayer, to scripture and study of His Word, and devoted to the body of Christ. In this message we will look at how we can live devoted to Jesus and spot the places where it has been evident over the last year.

God, in Jesus, is going to intervene! He's going to work, He is on duty, accomplishing what He intends in every situation!
Seven hundred years after Isaiah spoke these words, a teenage girl who was betrothed to marry a man named Joseph had a visit from an angel, who told her that she was to be the human vehicle through whom the Messiah of God would come. And somewhere in the confusion of this surprising and miraculous pregnancy, we read the quote from an old prophet, who stood toe-to-toe with a king and announced to anyone who had ears to hear, "There is nothing too difficult for God. He is coming to this very city. It will be for all people. Trust Him with your problems, believe His promises, hang on when it feels too hard to hang on - and you will see what God can do."
What will call him? Emmanuel The name Emanuel literally means, "The strong God with us." In other words, it is God Himself who is coming. He will dwell among us. He will set right what is wrong. He is change everything! Jesus is with you!

What does a “father” do? What image is evoked by the word? I suggest he has in mind the tenderness and sensitivity of a compassionate and affectionate father. It is the security and love he provides, as well as protection and provision. Jesus, therefore, is fatherly, father-like, in his treatment of us. This is similar to what the psalmist had in mind when he said, “as a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him”

Jesus has come as a baby to be the source of all serenity. He “is our peace”, having broken down the barriers that divide us from one another and, most important of all, the barriers between us and God.
A day is coming when He will establish peace among the nations and subdue all opposition to his rule. But now, in the present, he is here on your behalf to bring peace and joy and tranquility and calm to your heart. “I have said these things to you,” spoke Jesus, “that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Peace Has Come!

This is the one title non-Christians despise the most. The world is willing to acknowledge the “baby” Jesus, “away in a manger,” helpless, cuddly, and vulnerable. Christmas is o.k., if that’s as far as it goes, for it poses no threat to one’s sin and pride and personal autonomy. Speak and sing, if you must, of swaddling clothes and the tiny, tender infant. But then declare that this babe in a manger is also the Mighty God, Holy, Infinite, Sovereign over all, and they want nothing to do with him. Jesus in a manger is one thing. Jesus on a throne is something else altogether!
