In this very first episode of The Faith & Aloha Show, I’m opening up about who I am, why I created this podcast, and what you can expect from this space. If you’ve ever felt like you’re figuring life out as you go — same, sis. This is a space for the real, the raw, and the rooted.

Together, we’ll talk story about faith in the middle of messy seasons, motherhood, marriage, healing, and what it really looks like to trust God when life feels uncertain. You don’t have to have it all together to show up here — just a heart that’s open and a willingness to grow.

Let’s lean into grace, hold space for one another, and walk this faith journey together — wrapped in aloha every step of the way.

Can obtaining knowledge & wisdom truly bring joy and fulfillment beyond material possessions?  In todayʻs episode, I share with you how God has since opened my heart and mind to many realizations, especially how important Wisdom is in our lives. In this season I find myself extra busy as I return to school at 32. I am now having to navigate the complex dynamics of family life and academic ambitions. Inspired by Proverbs 8, I share what God has since put on my heart that is relevant for each of us in our journeyʻs no matter where you are or what you're doing in this season that God has you in.  Come join me today and let's talk stories!

Proverbs 8:1:  Listen wisdom calls out! Here as understanding raises her voice! 

#1. Wisdom verses knowledge 
Proverbs 8:8-9 [NLT]: My advice is wholesome.  There is nothing devious or crooked in it.  My words are plain to anyone with understanding and clear to those with knowledge.  

• wisdom [noun]: learning and the capacity to use it. 
• Knowledge [noun]: something learned and remembered, gained by experience. a students dictionary, by dictionaryproject.org 

#2. What is a Community Health Worker 

• A community Health worker (CHW) is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community it serves.  This trusting relationship enables the CHW to serve as a liaison/link/intermediary between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery.  ACHW also builds individual and community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support, and advocacy. (APHA, 2009) 

#3. Proverbs 8: 32-36 [NLT]: and so my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful.  Listen to my instructions and be wise.  Don't ignore it.  Joyful are those who listen to me, watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home! for whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.  But those who miss me injure themselves all who hate me love death.  

Proverbs 9:10:  Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.  Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment."

Have you ever gone through a tough season that has broken you down? Was it scary? were you unsure of the outcome because what you saw in front of you was a mess and not a masterpiece yet? then I think we can talk stories today.  In this episode, I talk about the challenges that I have been facing in my marriage and how God was showing me that I needed to trust him to break down that which was not satisfying to him and rebuild something better.  Buckle up because we're going way back to the beginning and sharing those spaces that for me are some of the hardest things to admit on my show, but I believe it's a conversation that needs to happen for a lot of local women like me.

  • I love how God can take us where we are, break us down, and rebuild us to something new. 

Scriptures

• Jeremiah 18:1-6: The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah.  He said, "Go down to the potterʻs shop, and I will speak to you there." so I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel.  but the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over.  Then the Lord gave me this message. "O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potterʻs hand so are you in my hand." 
• Jeremiah 18:7-10:  If I announce that a certain nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed, but then that nation renounces its evil ways, I will not destroy it as I had planned.  And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom, but then the nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would. 
• Isaiah 43:19: For I am about to do something new.  See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.  I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

I know you're all wondering what this last part of our series would be talking about, and if I'm honest it took me a while to hear God's voice on it.  I kept feeling as if we were going to talk about many different things.  Until God told me it would be Faith because faith is the thing that will get us out of all of our biggest roadblocks, especially fear.  Like I say, " Faith is the Crypitinite to fear". don't you agree? Join me today as we talk stories about our faith, something so seemingly simple yet difficult to hold on to in those seasons of fear.

• The foundation of our faith comes from our secret place with God

Hebrews 11:1:(AMP) Now Faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality- Faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses] 

Romans 1:5: (MSG) Through him we received both the generous gift of his life and the urgent task of passing it on to others who receive it by entering into obedient trust in Jesus. 

Romans 1:16-17 (AMP); I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation [ from His wrath and punishment] to everyone who believes [in Christ as Savior], to the jew first and also to the Greek.  For in the gospel the righteousness pf God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, "the Just and upright shall live by faith." [Hab 2:4]
