Paul explains his calling to preach the Gospel to the church in Corinth, free of charge. He declares he is free from all things, but has made himself a servant to all by binding himself to them in love for the purpose of winning them to the Gospel. Paul stresses self-control in all things as we all work for the trophy that is not perishable, eternal life.

These chapters of Micah contain a mix of prophecies about the future, including the coming of a Messiah from Bethlehem, and calls for justice, mercy, and repentance among the people of Israel. The prophet emphasizes that what the Lord desires is justice, mercy, and humility rather than ritual sacrifices.

The role of the human conscience is reviewed. A conscience is proof there is a Creator. The conscience alerts one to their sin. A rightly formed conscience knows right from wrong.

Vocation is defined. You were bought with a price. Don't let men rule your conscience, but let Christ rule. Paul is advising us to stay as we are. If married, stay married. If not married, don't seek a wife. Delaying marriage is an epidemic now in our country. This is self-centered.

The theme of fools and their foolishness continues in this teaching.
