The term "wildlife conservation" encompasses so many different species of animals. Mountain Goats are included in that, and may be considered a coveted or once-in-a-lifetime hunting experience for some folks. But what you may not realize is Mountain Goats do not always get the focus they deserve when it comes to normal conservation efforts and funding. That's where the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance does their work. Kendrick Chittock from RMGA joins us this week to talk about today's overlooked, under-funded and under-valued areas of Mountain Goat conservation, and how their organization bridges a huge gap in research and funding for Mountain Goat conservation across North America. Kendrick gives us an education on Mountain Goat habitats, potential natural and human threats to populations, and how folks can get involved in helping their organization and local game commissions with Mountain Goats. And no, we're not just talking about your wallet, but also boots on the ground. This is very educational episode discussing a species of animal we are all aware exists, but maybe not as savvy as to the help they actually need.

The defeat of Proposition 127 in Colorado signified a big win for hunters and conservationists. But just because science-based wildlife management had a "win" at the ballot-box doesn't mean the fight is over or the war has been won. John Stallone, the Vice President of HOWL for Wildlife is our podcast guest this week, and he brings a detailed and insightful perspective of the current actions and issues conservationists are still battling across North America. Still in the forefront of everyone's focus is the Colorado Wolf Reintroduction which continues to move forward arguably without the needed science-based management practices. While many may feel wolves are a battle already lost, John and his constituents believe it to be a fight worth fighting, and what better way to do it than by the same method their opposition used to push it through! Also discussed are upcoming actions on California Bear and Mountain Lion Management, along with a new House Bill in Colorado allowing a language change which could lay the groundwork for a future ban on hunting all together! Hunters nation-wide need to be informed and need to be paying attention right now, and this episode puts all of that into perspective!

Kodiak Island Alaska - a coveted hunting location by many. This week's guest, Kyler Berges set a goal to check one off the bucket list when he began preparing for his first ever Brown Bear hunt. He worked hard preparing as much as possible when it came to his gear, his physical condition and his mental state. He knew it would be the most challenging hunt he's ever been on, but to a certain extent nothing can truly prepare you for an experience like this outside of actually doing it. Kyle takes us from start to finish through this episode, starting with his preparation going into it, followed by the reality of the Kodiak Island he found himself on. Nearly 2 weeks, 4 different stalks on brown bears, and day after day on their feet running and gunning, this trip puts Kyle to the extreme test. Tune in for an incredible adventure, including one situation that some may argue is a little too close for comfort.
