We are back on the Wildlife Conservation Battlefield for this episode with one of our own team members, Colorado Resident John Kesler.  Colorado is continually in the spotlight when it comes to hunter's rights, extreme anti-hunting agendas and frequent attacks on science based wildlife management.  Once again, new actions are coming down the pipe in Colorado to include several that would be a continuation of current anti-hunting agendas, while others have their benefits for hunters and anglers.  John discusses the 6 citizen petitions that will be going to the commission, along with a significant ballot measure that would give Colorado a Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish.  There's some tricky wording sneaking into some of these matters which Residents should be mindful of.  We unpack all of this and more in this episode.

Colorado's Commercial Fur Ban, Oregon's IP28, Idaho's SB1300, the Congressional Review Act... everywhere you look factual, science-based wildlife and resource management is under attack.  In this episode, Sam sits down to talk about what is currently riding in the hot seat of conservation in 2026, and what outdoors men and women need to be focusing on.  Sam talks about the upcoming CPW commission meeting during which a citizen petition for a fur ban will be presented and the impacts this could have on hunting and trapping.  He discusses the Oregon "Peace Act' which would effectively make hunting, fishing and even raising livestock in Oregon illegal.  SB1300 in Idaho could put control of the Fish and Game department in the wrong hands.  And of course Congress continuing to overstep using the CRA puts land and wildlife at risk.  This is not a time to relax, this is a time to engage.  The fight for conservation is a constant fight, and no one else is coming to our rescue.

This episode steps outside of our normal hunting and outdoor podcasting genre for a conversation with a true American and real-life hero.  Anthony Dyer is our guest this week.  He is a United States Air Force Veteran who served as a Special Missions Aviator.  Anthony was the guy who was activated at a moment's notice when fellow troops on the ground needed immediate air support, and during his military career he few hundreds of high-risk missions; including the 2018 Jolly Green Rescue Mission.  Anthony is also the author of the book "Moon Child" which talks about veteran struggles post-service and the return to normal life.  During this conversation with Anthony we discuss his military service, including the nuts and bolts of his job and some of these specific missions.  However, the most significant part of our discussing is his story, experience and encouragement to others when it is time to find purpose and identity back home.

When the Fall Obsession Team arrives in camp, you can count on good times, good fellowship, lifelong memories and animals hitting the ground!  Our 2025 West Texas Sandhill Crane hunt was no exception.  We are joined in this episode by a few members of that crew, Todd, Mark and Kess to recap an unbelievable weekend.  Several guys in camp were veteran waterfowl and sandhill crane hunters, but we also saw some first-timers get to experience this incredible hunt for the first time.  The guys talk about the realities of hunting these massive birds, lessons learned, expectations vs realities for the newbies, and why crane/waterfowl hunting is a necessity for land and resource management.  Like any show with our own team, this is one of those conversations that will have you feeling like you are hanging out with us in camp talking hunting and the outdoors!
