Fall Obsession Podcast

We pick up right where we left off in our last episode, talking with our good friend Kelley Cato about his Bighorn Sheep hunt in the Sierra Diablo Mountains in 2004!  In part 1 (Episode 61), Kelley sat down with Sam and set the stage for what would be the most memorable hunt of his life.  Now, we dive in deep talking about every gritty detail of this incredible experience, all the way to the very end.  After overcoming several challenges, Kelley and his guide found themselves in harsh sheep country with only a day left to seal the deal.  What would follow is one of the most amazing, intense and emotional conclusions we've ever heard to a once-in-a-lifetime hunt like this.  Kelley tells his story flawlessly, and paints us a breathtaking picture which can only be appreciated by true hunters and outdoorsman.

You will never hear a better story about a true once a lifetime hunt!  In 2004, our good friend and fellow firefighter Kelley Cato thought someone was messing with him when he got a phone call saying he had won a Texas Desert Bighorn hunt in the Sierra Diablo Mountains.  But come to find out, this opportunity from Texas Parks and Wildlife was as real as they come!  In part 1 of 2 of our Texas Bighorn podcast, Kelley sits down with Sam and sets the stage for what would be, and still is the most memorable hunt of his life.  This was literally a one in a million shot for him to receive this rare tag, allowing him to hunt this extremely protected species.  Kelley talks about what all went into preparing for this hunt, the extreme challenges of hunting Texas Bighorns, and the harshness of the environment these animals call home.  It doesn't matter what you yourself are accustomed to hunting... do not skip over this episode, and certainly do not miss part 2 (Episode 62).  This is  by far one of our greatest podcast conversations and guests to date!

Pro Staffer Kurt Echelberry and good friend Jeff Hasselbach are back for another week on the podcast, as we once again reflect on last deer season!  Jeff had some unfortunately low expectations going into his 2020 season, but that all changed when he looked down from his tree stand in Ohio at a buck of a lifetime!  Jeff tells the story of this incredible and unforgettable bow hunt, and how it led to him putting a tag on his biggest buck to date.  Jeff's story is a prime example that despite the odds, the big ones are hiding out there and will show up when you least expect it.  Stick it out, be patient, and don't give up... you never know what might come walking out in front of you!
