DisneyPlus’ new series Moon Knight is now streaming, as a sort of psychological thriller aspect, think twice about watching this one with your younger kids and tweens, especially right before bed. In the theaters is Morbius, an offshoot of the Spider-Man multi-verse, this dark horror-type thriller is filled with blood, death, scary bats, and is not for younger audiences. Now for a grown-up comedy Netflix,’ The Bubble about making a blockbuster movie during the pandemic will be a hit if you like the humor of director Judd Apatow. And finally a funny show for kids; ParamountPlus has a new live-action/animated sequel series to Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder.

Batman is back on the big screen, this time with Robert Pattinson behind the cowl in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” This film-noir detective story is only available in the theaters with a darker tone than recent Batman films and some dark subject matter. For Star Trek fans out there, the second season of “Star Trek: Picard” dropped its first episode yesterday on Paramount Plus with Picard finding himself facing a well-known and powerful nemesis. Over on HBO Max, there is a funny, somewhat true story of an 18th century pirate from Taika Waititi in “Our Flag Means Death.” And for all the people who skipped Steven Spielberg’s remake of “West Side Story” in the theaters, you can now stream it at home on DisneyPlus.

After a bit of a coronavirus enforced hiatus, the Utah theater scene has sprung back to life, and nothing showcases that wonderful development like the vibrant valentine of "Something Rotten!"  to theater currently on stage at the  Pioneer Theatre Company Today on the Fan Effect podcast host KellieAnn Halvorsen is joined by two fellow theater lovers, Megan Gutierrez, founder of the Utah Theater Lovers group, and national and Broadway performer Robert Anthony Jones (known as Raj). All had been delighted to be a part of  “Something Rotten!” on opening night, Megan and KellieAnn in the audience and Raj on stage as the comedic Nostradamus. Together they discuss the production, their mutual love of theater, and how Utah is the place for a vibrant mix of arts and culture. 

"Something Rotten!" runs through March 12, 2022, with evening shows Monday through Saturday and a Saturday matinee. Tickets are between $48-77and are available at PioneerTheatre.org.
