The Croods Family Tree, streaming on both Hulu and Peacock, picks up where the Croods and Bettermans left off in the film sequel as they try to continue to evolve as people. Speaking of evolution, a fun family film meant for the big screen hits Netflix instead. Books turned into screen fodder is the theme for today's reviews, with iconic creatives in the mix to offer weight to tuning into these programs. The big movie of the week hitting theaters and HBOMax is Clint Eastwood in Cry Macho; this semi-modern Western takes place in 1979 with Eastwood himself playing a former rodeo champion on a quest across the border. Next is Dan Brown's Lost Symbols series streaming on Peacock and bringing back a younger version of Brown's Robert Langdon character in his early adventures. Over on Netflix, you have a new kids series that might just be too scary for kids; Nightbooks stars Krysten Ritter and is an imaginative nightmare produced by known horror storyteller Sam Raimi. Also on Netflix is a reboot of an 80's classic, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, a new version of an old favorite safe for all ages.

Fan Effect host Andy Farnsworth is joined by Hollywood voiceover star Rob Paulsen ahead of his appearance at FanX Salt Lake as a featured guest in September, and the release of season two of Animaniacs on Hulu in November.

Rob is best known for being the voice of Yakko Warner on "Animaniacs", Pinky on "Pinky and the Brain", Raphael on the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" cartoon in 1987, Donatello in the 2012 TMNT reboot on Nickelodeon, and Carl Wheezer on "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius", but he has voiced hundreds of roles on hundreds of TV shows and movies.

Labor Day Weekend is here and Marvel has one more blockbuster to wrap up the Summer season with ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’ The exciting and surprisingly beautiful film brings martial arts into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a fun and fantasy-driven way, now in theaters. FanX is almost here! Guests are already getting excited and for those brave enough to throw on a costume and go on a scavenger hunt, they are even winning multi-day passes! On the last Saturday of August, Fan Effect host KellieAnn Halvorsen was joined FanX’s Ro Malaga and numerous cosplayers for the first big event of the FanX season, the Cosplay Games. From a cosplay Hall-of-Famer to a family all dressed as Loki variants, everyone had something fun to say about the joy of cosplay, the comradery of Utah’s fan culture, and what they are looking forward to in the upcoming con.

Interviewees include photographer Mark Loertscher, Mindy Madsen, Eric Allan Hall and the Lee/Fredrickson clan, brother and sister Kreston Lee and Melinda Lee Fredrickson, with kids Tyler, Samuel, Jasmine, Adriella, and Abigail Fredrickson. Many of these cosplayers volunteer with Heroes Engaging Real Organizations in Charity, Kids Heroes Foundation, and can be found socializing on the Cosplay Utah Facebook group.

FanX is back, and bigger and better than ever!
