  • Executive Producer Jim 'Mr. Skin' McBride Discusses ‘Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies’

When I first heard Jim McBride AKA Mr. Skin on The Howard Stern Show back in the 1990s. I thought his premise for a website was absolutely ridiculous, I mean an entire site just dedicated to nude scenes in film? Who's got the time just to fast forward that far ahead and break it down to the exact minute? Well, the joke was on me as two decades later, McBride continues to go strong in his endeavors and is one the executive producers of, Skin: A History of Nudity in Movies. Quite frankly, you have a movie like this without Mr. Skin, now could you?

Skin traces Hollywood’s use of nudity from the silent era, through the production code and the formation of the MPAA, ending with a discussion of movie nudity in the #MeToo era. McBride speaks candidly about his career path, the difference in mentality between sex and violence on camera, how to protect our youth and the actors involved in the entertainment industry and a whole lot more.

Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies comes to VOD on now.

Skin traces Hollywood's use of nudity from the silent era, through the production code and the formation of the MPAA, ending with a discussion of movie nudity in the #MeToo era. Thanks to Fishbein and Skin we discover what an intimacy consultant does on set, we discuss how Hollywood can better protect their actors from predatory filmmakers and can we keep our children safe from monsters behind the scenes.

Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies comes to VOD on August 18, 2020.

  • Garo Setian Talks About the Blu-ray Relation of his film 'Automation'

Garo Setian proves in his labor of love that a science fiction film with a heart can be made on a limited budget, especially when the story is told properly. In his first full-length feature film Automation, Setian, wrote, directed and produced a movie about a military robot that was reprogrammed for civilian work that lead to the replacement of human workers, causing a retaliation that rebooted Auto into the once killing machine he was intended to be.

Coincidentally, Setian set out to make a good science fiction movie with a social commentary that ended up being prophetic in the new world we live in.

We caught up with Setian about Automation, how some of the pick ups were shot at the animation studio Titmouse and the hopes of a future sequel.

Automation is available now on VOD and Blu-ray. You can find it on your favorite platforms by going to www.epic-pictures.com/film/automation.

  • Karl Urban and Laz Alonso Discuss 'The Boys' Season 2

Season Two of The Amazon Prime hit series The Boys begins streaming on the service beginning September 4, 2020. Based on the comic book created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series follows the theme of the comic without going full blown, "What the heck did I just watch?"

We caught up with Karl Urban aka Billy Butcher and Laz Alonso aka Mother's Milk to discuss the second season, the evolution of the show and what we can expect from The Female (Karen Kukuhara) and her character's evoltuion.

There is one correction that needs to be made from the interview, I tried to stir the pot just a little between the Homelander (Anthony Starr) and Urban a little more trying to keep the divide between The Boys and The Seven going, claiming that Starr was from Australia knowing full well Urban is from New Zealand. Unfortunately that fell flat when I was corrected that Starr too is a Kiwi, but we love them both.

The Boys begins streaming September 4, 2020 on Amazon Prime.

  • Chris Bombardier Takes on Everest and Hemophilia in 'Bombardier Blood'

I have never felt so emasculated as when I spoke with Chris Bombardier about his new documentary Bombardier Blood. Bombardier at the time of the filming of this documentary had already climbed five of the seven's world largest mountains.

What makes this documentary unique is that Bombardier is a hemophiliac. According to the Mayo Clinic, Hemophilia is a rare disorder in which your blood doesn't clot normally because it lacks sufficient blood-clotting proteins (clotting factors).  What I found out thanks to Bombardier and director, Patrick James Lynch is that there are two types of hemophilia. Type A and Type B. Bombardier has Type A, while Lynch has Type B.  The difference between the two is the type of proteins that are effected via the disorder.

Bombardier was an aspiring baseball player, who once his hopes of going pro didn't pan out, he decided to become an adventurer.

We spoke with Bombardier and Lynch about hemophilia, climbing Everest and what is next both for him and Lynch.

Visit www.bombardierblood.com and www.adventuresofahemophiliac.com for more information on the film and what Chris Bombardier is up to.

  • Persian Singer and International Sensation Shab is ready to take on the American Music Scene

This interview was very personal to me as Shab has a very similar story two my cousins James and Banipal (You can't get much more ancient than being named after Assyrian King Ashurbanipal). Following the Iranian Revolution, during the war between Iran and Iraq, my cousins left Iran through Germany and came to the United States before settling in and becoming Mechanical Engineers...I know, I know, who would have ever guessed Middle Eastern Engineers, it's almost unheard of (insert eye roll).

Similar to my cousins, Persian singer, Shab's family left Iran following that same time frame, moved to Germany and resided there for several years with her widowed mother and 12 older brothers and sisters. At age 14, Shab moved to the United States to the Palm Springs area, as she had another set of older siblings from her father's first marriage, eventually becoming educated here in America and then finding her calling as a singer, who's music is influenced by Persian, European and Latin beats.

Shab, who is now a mother, recently released her new single Spell On Me in the United States after creating a successful career overseas.

We caught up with Shab to discuss our similar family histories, the heterogeneous aspects of Iran, what it means to be an American now, how much family truly means and how music transcends languages.

Follow Shab on Twitter @shabmusic_ and on Instagram @shabmusicofficial. Visit her official website at www.shabofficial.com

  • Ryan Chanatry of Topic Discusses the Rise of Streaming Services and Niche Programming

Ryan Chanatry is the General Manager of the streaming service Topic. The streaming service on its home page refers to itself as, "Borderless Entertainment," and is home to the series Soul City, an amazing anthology series following the footsteps of Twilight Zone and Tales from the Crypt (click here to listen to our interview with show creators Coodie and Chike).

We spoke with Chantary about the rise of niche programming services like Topic and the alternatives they give to the big three, if there will be a way to switch from service to service without taking multiple steps versus the channel surfing available through standard cable and dish services and the possible dangers of only living in a bubble that feels one particular worldview.

Chantary also filled us in on how streaming is changing how we watch cable, though various reports the idea of completely cutting the is pre-mature. In fact, according to Topic’s survey, of people that get access via cable or streaming, 40% have both, 33% are cable only and 28% are streaming only.

Additionally, some avid watchers are increasingly looking for niche content. The average number of services people use monthly sits at five with the top 10 percent of subscribers pulling content from 10+ places. A marked increase from prior studies.

Topic subscription beings at $5.99 a month and offers a free 7-day trial.

Check out the interview with Ryan Chantary above and follow topic on Twitter @topicstories and on Instagram @topicstories.
