  • NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.20.21) - Who's the number one fantasy player - Steph Curry or Nikola Jokic?

Another 10 threes! It might be an understatement to say that Steph Curry is on fire! I watched the game this morning and really in front of the screen it seemed easy to stop Curry, but he is just too good of a shooter. Surprisingly, Curry is just the number 3 fantasy player behind Nikola Jokic and Nikola Vucevic. As good as Curry is, I guess his stat set is just 3-deep (points, FG% and threes), the rest is just okay. Not to be outdone, Jokic nearly had another triple double and just solid numbers across the board. Who do you think will end up being the number one fantasy player this year? Can Jokic keep that title or will Curry make a run at it? Or maybe Vucevic surprises us especially now without Zach Lavine for another week.

Lamelo Ball is due to return soon, he should be ready to help your teams by next week. Oh and Jaren Jackson Jr is said to be close to playing. We don't want to keep your hopes up, but hey, that's good news for you guys who've stashed him.

  • NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.19.21) - Week 17 schedule analysis. Toronto's 2-game week, what to do?

What an exciting week 16! Playoffs frenzy at its finest! One thing I can say, there are no guarantees this season, no matter how good your team was in the regular season, it's back to zero when it comes to the playoffs. We've received a lot of messages about top seeded teams booted out after week 16 quarterfinals. And we're not just talking about one upset, there are leagues where all top seeded teams lost today, that's how crazy it was.

In today's quickie, we look into week 17 schedule and commish Eric shares some tips on how to use your moves smartly. Every move counts, I've seen teams who made moves that led to them losing the week. Some moves made that focused on the wrong stat, some were overconfident moves where they thought they had the week won so they prepared for the following week, and some made moves on the wrong days where they had a full roster. Small mistakes like these can be costly so we have to be smarter when adding or dropping players.

We also look into the Toronto Raptors' 2-day week 17 and how to deal with their core players. Should we drop Fred Vanvleet, OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam this week? Oh and Kevin Durant got injured...again! It has been a disaster really for Durant owners.

  • NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.18.21) - Steph Curry explosion. More drop players and some hot FAs to add.

Thirty six three pointers! That's what Steph Curry made just this week! He is just in the zone right now. Unfortunately, he had an ankle tweak after hitting another 11 three pointers today. It does not seem too worrying, but he could be due for a short break so watch how Golden State handles this. I give an update on my current playoff matches and what I did to just stay close when I didn't have my first round pick Kawhi Leonard, Richaun Holmes, lost Tobias Harris, and saw Jakob Poeltl get rested in a crucial game and that team is going up against a team with Steph Curry! In the playoffs, all you need is to stay close and I guess some luck as well.

We talked about some players that are drop mode and some suggested adds as we head into week 17. Tomorrow will be judgement day and as the Hunger Games say, "May the odds be in your favor."

  • S02E25 - Gilas cadet Isaac Go shares his basketball journey, his favorite moment in Ateneo and some NBA talks

Unknown to many Isaac Go is also a fantasy basketball enthusiasts, it is just unfortunate that his team was hit by lots of injuries at different points of the season that he ended up not making it to the playoffs. Still, we had some great discussions about the NBA and fantasy basketball. We also talked about Isaac's basketball journey from where and when he started to his Xavier days and then Ateneo and now with the Gilas Pilipinas team. We also brought up his knack for being cool in clutch situations as he hit several big shots when he was in college. Find out what his favorite is among those big shots. Since we caught Isaac at the wrong time with his fantasy team being eliminated already, we'll probably invite him again earlier in the season when his team usually is doing well.

  • NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.17.21) - Donovan Mitchell's injury, updates on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and players you should be dropping now.

We should stop mentioning "durable" players from here on. Okay, we did mention another one in this quickie. But today another durable player went down with an injury. Donovan Mitchell sprained his ankle and was carried off the floor. The injury is not season ending, but he could miss some time and that time could also be the crucial time in your fantasy week. With all these injuries and rests though, there are still players that could help you survive your fantasy playoffs. You just have to scout your opponent, focus on your strategy and be smart with your moves - especially if they are limited.

We also discussed some players you should no longer hold at this point just because they are merely name value players with bad fantasy numbers. Maybe you can get away with it during the regular season, but come playoffs, they may just be burdens to your teams.

Two more days of week 16! Good luck guys!

  • NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.16.21) - Zach Lavine out of fantasy playoffs? Resting is real in the NBA!

So the NBA Fantasy Playoff Frenzy continues and there's just too much resting and injuries going on. Zach Lavine, who has been a fantasy stud all season long has entered COVID protocol with a timeline of 10-14 days. If you're currently in fantasy playoffs, this is just devastating! He's pretty much out for week 17 and possibly a part of week 18. We discuss when to consider dropping Lavine given his situation. Lamarcus Aldridge retired and though the potential fantasy beneficiaries in Brooklyn do not seem exciting adds, they may just win you a category or two and sometimes in fantasy playoffs, that's all that matters - 5 categories!

Detroit and Toronto are resting their key players. That means lots of possible adds headed by Malachi Flynn (hopefully you haven't dropped him yet). Anthony Davis could return next week, while Fred Vanvleet and Karl Anthony-Towns will try and give their managers a late push in their respective matchups as they return tomorrow.

Still, lots of playoff reminders on roster management, add/drop tips that hopefully secures your spot in the next round.

  • NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.15.21) - Potential fantasy playoff drops and pickups. More injuries and how to survive the fantasy playoffs.

Man oh man! More rests and injuries today as we go through fantasy playoffs! Richaun Holmes is out for the rest of the week, PJ Washington is still day to day, Kawhi Leonard out once again, Paul George - REST, Kevin Durant - REST, Karl Anthony-Towns - OUT. These are not mid-level players and their impact is HUUUUGGGEEE! If you are still within fighting chance despite these players still out, then congratulations!

I own, KAT, and PJ Wash in one team and Kawhi and Holmes in another playoff team. So far I am surviving, but barely. I shared some of the moves I made to give myself a better chance of winning. You know what's worse? If that playoff team without these guys is against Steph Curry who has been red hot in the past couple of weeks (like me)! So what do you do if you are against the peak of Curry's fantasy value?

Our "sawi" players consists of names you might want to consider dropping in case you are in the playoffs and your team has been struggling to keep up, then of course we give you some players you can add/stream to replace them.

  • NBA Fantasy Quickie (04.13.21) - Roster management tips for playoffs and what to do with injuries?

First day of fantasy playoffs and managers were welcomed with lots of injuries! The biggest one probably came during the last game of the day when Jamal Murray landed badly as his knee buckled. Could be season ending, but as always with us, if you have the luxury of waiting a day or two, might be good to wait for official diagnosis and timeline. Other players were also not spared - Mo Bamba, Richaun Holmes, James Johnson and for tomorrow, Kawhi Leonard will be out again. We discuss what to do with these players and how to compensate the loss of stats. Plus more roster management strategies for your playoff week.

We also answered your questions from the Facebook post in the group.

  • S02E24 - FBW x Buhay Basket on NBA's Top 25 Under 25, are the Jazz and Suns for real?

In this week's episode we were joined by Buhay Basket's Elvis Gutierrez (for a bit) and Jeff Arrienda to discuss some NBA stuff! Though we missed having everyone from the Buhay Basket crew due to technical and scheduling issues, the discussion was still hella fun!

In this episode we look into ESPN's NBA Top 25 Under 25 list and share our thoughts on who were underrated and overrated. We then build our top 5 under 25 in fantasy basketball. We also dive into Jeff's favorite team and their chances this year at making the playoffs. Plus more NBA and fantasy discussion along the way.
