What do you know about health, healing, and the multiple arts and sciences of medicine? Have you ever heard of medical anthropology? This program calls all healers, therapists, medical professionals, and anyone who has ever experienced being ill to listen in and learn how we can better take care of those around us and ourselves in health and illness, and be inspired in that by some of the insights medical anthropology might have to offer.

This week we have Theresia Hofer, a beautiful friend, talented teacher, & compassionate woman on the show to talk about her anthropology research, experiences and views on health & illness in different cultures, especially in the Himalayas and Tibet. Theresia has a dual training in social and medical anthropology and in medical history, her research focusing on the cross-cultural studies of health and illness and the role of traditional medicines in the modern world. Hofer has carried out extensive fieldwork in the Tibet Autonomous Region (China), and collaborated with groups of traditional medical practitioners in Bhutan and Nepal. Hofer’s publications have appeared in edited volumes, academic journals, and include a monograph on the transmission and practice of Tibetan medicine in central Tibet. Hofer’s award-winning photographs have been exhibited in London, Vienna, and Bhutan, and they have been published in, among others, The New York Times and The British Medical Journal.

Hofer currently works as Researcher at the University of Oslo and as Guest-curator for a forthcoming exhibition on Tibetan medicine at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York in 2014.

You never know what Jerry will discuss on the show but sports will be apart of the conversation at some point.

Today's show has a ton of football related content. We'll also talk about MLB's NL AND AL Championship series. THe NBA is right around the corner and we'll touch on the upcoming season. College football is also in the mix so sit back and enjoy the show.

This show promises to bring a great deal of debate on sports, politics and everything in between, and a great deal more. Mac is controversial and Jerry tries to keep him on the level. Tune in for a great time.
