The defamation trial against Donald Trump went completely off the rails on Friday after the judge had to threaten Alina Habba with jail time if she didn't start following the rules of the court. Judge Lewis Kaplan told Habba that she was close to "spending some time in the lock up" if she continued to violate the rules of introducing evidence during closing arguments - a move that even legal experts say could get her sued for malpractice.

Also, Republican candidates across the country aren't thrilled about being on the same ballot as Donald Trump this coming November. They remember how poorly that worked out for Republicans in the 2020 election, not to mention how Trump impacted races in both the 2018 and 2022 midterm elections. Trump is electoral poison for other Republicans, and his presence on the ballot alone is causing, as one Republican Congressman put it, "chaos" with candidates already. 

And Lauren Boebert endured her first primary debate in her new district late last week, and the entire event was described as a "clown car crash" by one prominent media outlet. Boebert was called out by her opponents both for being a "carpetbagger" and for being painfully stupid, in general. But none of the candidates really shined, and at one point two-thirds of the candidates on stage had to raise their hands when asked by the moderator who on stage had been arrested before. Colorado is in bad shape, no matter what happens in that race.

Finally, Donald Trump loves to dish it out when it comes to mocking his opponents, but according to those closest to him, he certainly can't take it when it comes back around. Recently, President Biden started referring to Donald Trump as a "loser", copying one of Trump's favorite insults. Insiders say that these insults are really starting to get under Trump's skin because he's terrified of anyone thinking of him as a loser.

A seemingly drunk Marjorie Taylor Greene was having a good time at Trump's New Hampshire victory party this week, and she wanted to make sure that everyone knew it. She managed to get herself interviewed by a right wing network where she said, while slurring her words horribly, that political consultants for people like Nikki Haley should go to jail for working for a losing candidate. The woman is even more unhinged after she's had a few.

Also, Donald Trump has won the first two Republican contests by fairly decent margins, and now the apparatus of the Republican Party is calling for everyone to unify behind him. But looks can be deceiving, and the real numbers from Trump's victories show that he has little to no path to victory in a general election. Moderate Republicans and Independents want nothing to do with him, and he can't win with only the MAGA coalition behind him.

And a former Trump staffer that had previously served as a director for his New Hampshire campaign in a previous election was forcibly removed from Trump's victory party in New Hampshire after he posted a picture of himself with a smiling Alina Habba. Habba's presence has called into question her honesty and integrity, as she told the judge the day before that she was sick and the trial was then postponed. The former staffer was removed after posting the picture but right before the news broke on NBC.

Finally, Donald Trump is tired of the primaries, and he's ready to be crowned the king of the GOP. The only thing standing in his way is his last remaining opponent, Nikki Haley. So Trump is now going scorched earth against Haley and all who support her, and in a post on Truth Social Trump threatened to expel and ex-communicate any Republican who gives money to Nikki Haley going forward. That's a rather empty threat, and it shows that Trump is trying to bully his way to the top.

The defamation trial against Donald Trump was delayed earlier this week after one juror fell ill and Alina Habba reported having a fever after being exposed to Covid. However, this alleged illness didn't stop Habba from partying with the Trump campaign in New Hampshire on Tuesday evening - just 24 hours after she was allegedly too ill to perform in court. Habba's actions are certainly going to come up in court, and could be used to convince a jury that she isn't trustworthy, as Farron Cousins explains. 

Also, Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the Republican National Committee, is now calling on Nikki Haley to drop out of the presidential race so that the Party can unite behind Donald Trump. Trump won New Hampshire on Tuesday, but Haley beat expectations and closed a 14-point gap down to about 10 points. McDaniel is a poor leader and has been since she took the job, and her idea of uniting behind Trump would be a disaster for the Republican Party.

And the House Ethics Committee has contacted more witnesses for testimony and evidence against Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, and Gaetz isn't taking this new development lightly. Gaetz lashed out at the Committee and tried to deflect from his own problems by bringing up the fact that there are members of Congress who are clearly engaging in insider trading. While insider trading is obviously bad, it isn't nearly as bad as what Gaetz has been accused of doing.

Finally, Marjorie Taylor Greene is apparently a little over-excited about the New Hampshire primary results, and she proudly proclaimed that Trump is now THE GUY for the GOP this year. But she didn't just celebrate Trump's mediocre victory, she also issued a threat to the entire Republican Party. Greene says that any Republican that doesn't support Trump will be "eradicated" from the Party, whatever that means.

Donald Trump is going all out in his quest for complete and total immunity, and he's starting to sound more unhinged as his rants get weirder. Over the weekend, Trump actually compared himself to priests that have been accused of assaulting young boys, saying that sometimes you just have to let the bad apples go. Not only is that a bad group of people to compare yourself to, but it is also an admission that YOU are one of those bad apples. 

And Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz got a question that he wasn't expecting while he was campaigning for Donald Trump in New Hampshire. An activist managed to get into the event where Gaetz was taking questions from a crowd, and the man asked Gaetz several embarrassing questions including "What's the youngest schoolgirl you've ever been with?" Gaetz waved the man off and he was escorted out, but the moment went viral on social media.

Also, Republican Representative Elise Stefanik defended Donald Trump's increasing confusion about who he's running against over the weekend by claiming that his mind has never been more sharp. The rest of the media - including several Republican members of Congress - disagreed, and they spent the weekend calling out the former President for what is obviously a sign of his cognitive decline. 

Finally, Donald Trump is struggling so badly to fill up his rallies that his campaign has had to resort to booking smaller venues. Even with the smaller venues, Trump still can't play to a packed house, and videos have repeatedly shown people getting up and leaving early, as recently as this past weekend. The enthusiasm for Trump isn't what it was before, and that's not a good sign for him as the election inches closer.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is already over the Republican primary, and she wants everyone else to drop out and endorse Donald Trump right now. Even though only ONE state has held the primary (caucus), Greene says that the race is over. And she's not alone - plenty of high profile Republicans are calling for this contest to end so everyone can "unify" behind Trump.

And during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News last week, Donald Trump put even more pressure on the US Supreme Court to give him immunity from prosecution. He brought up the fact that he put three of those Justices on the court, and said that he's confident they will do what's right. Trump is trying to bully the court into giving him immunity, and he isn't even trying to hide it at this point. 

Also,  a Republican Congressman from Texas, Chip Roy, came so close to understanding why the public dislikes Congress, but he came up short by trying to blame the current chaos and lack of accomplishments on Democrats. Roy blasted Congress saying "we keep doing stupid stuff," but he then blamed Democrats for not securing the southern border, even though the Republicans turned down the border deal Democrats had proposed. Roy came close, but as usual missed the mark.

Finally, multiple reporters and authors that have been working closely with Donald Trump for decades are coming out to tell the world that it is glaringly obvious that Trump is suffering from a serious cognitive decline. While they aren't going as far as to say that there's something medically wrong with him, they aren't shy about saying that his brain is definitely not working the way that it should be. These people have witnessed the decline firsthand, and we should probably listen to them.

At a campaign stop in New Hampshire this week, Donald Trump whined to the crowd that not only was it "ridiculous" that he had to leave the White House after losing the 2020 election, but he was also not happy about having to "follow the laws" after losing. He was about to continue down this verbal, but he realized how bad that could end up so he quickly changed the subject. But the man is now showing open disdain for the laws of the country and his followers are eating it up.

Also, it is becoming very difficult to tell which side Alina Habba is working for as she represents Trump in court, because everything she's doing in this week's defamation trial appears to be helping the plaintiff. Habba was repeatedly smacked down by the judge in the first few days of the trial, and the judge had to constantly admonish her for her behavior in court and her non-legal objections to certain things. The whole situation became very tense, and the judge already appears to have lost all patience with Habba. 

And Democratic lawmakers are imploring the IRS to investigate a nonprofit group that is aiding January 6th defendants over the fact that the group is also clearly being used to push Donald Trump's presidential bid. The group, Patriot Freedom Project, is set up as a nonprofit that is expressly prohibited from engaging in politics by supporting any candidate or Party, but they have held multiple events where they've either directly endorsed and encouraged people to support Trump, or they've outright held events at his properties. This is fairly cut and dry, but that doesn't mean anything will happen to them.

Finally, Donald Trump's cognitive and physical health is being called into question a lot these days, and he attempted to ease those fears during a campaign rally in New Hampshire this week. Trump told the crowd about the time (now over four years ago) that he allegedly "aced" a cognitive exam, and he proceeded to brag to them about how he could correctly identify a picture of a whale (he knew the difference between a giraffe and a whale, hardly something to brag about.)

The defamation trial against Donald Trump brought by E. Jean Carroll began this week, and it got off to a very bad start for Trump. While he was sitting in the courtroom, his Truth Social account continued to post defamatory comments about Carroll, and it got so bad that the plaintiff's lawyers had to ask the judge to stop him because he had made 22 posts about Carroll so far that day. This isn't going to help him with the jury, as Farron explains. 

Also, Republicans in the Missouri statehouse got back to work this week, and rather than focusing on the economy or healthcare, they decided to introduce a flurry of bills that all have the same goal: To erase transgender people from existence. Several of the bills would outright ban people from identifying as a gender other than what they were assigned at birth, while others do the same with bathroom usage, and still others would prevent gender-affirming care from taking place.

And over the weekend, Donald Trump's lawyer Alina Habba told an audience of nearly 90,000 right wing Christian warriors that the reason Trump is facing so many legal problems is because there is a "demonic plan" in place to attack him. Those "demons," as Habba explained, are people like Fani Willis, Judge Arthur Engoron, Jack Smith, and Judge Tanya Chutkan. Habba is getting everything she's ever wanted, and that clearly doesn't include actual legal victories.

And during a campaign event in New Hampshire this week, Donald Trump suggested that media outlets like NBC and CNN should have their broadcast licenses taken away because they didn't air his Iowa victory speech on Monday. Both networks actually aired part of his speech before cutting away - which is exactly what happened over at Fox News, too. Trump's threats against the media should not be taken lightly because what he's suggesting is a violation of Constitutional rights.

Three members of Donald Trump's massive legal team called it quits this week, notifying the courts that they would no longer be representing the former President in his legal fights. The main lawyer, Joe Tacopina, was seen as the most competent lawyer that Trump had hired, but he has now left and taken two of his associates with him. Trump is left with Alina Habba and a gaggle of bargain bin lawyers.

Also, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell had a bit of a meltdown the other day while complaining about Fox News no longer running ads for his products. Lindell said that he is going to be contacting the CEO of the network to find out what's happening, but the network already told him what the problem is: He owes them nearly $8 million for ads that they've already run and they will gladly run more ads once he actually pays them. But Lindell maintains that there's something more sinister happening.

And a new report from The New York Times has revealed just how broken the brains of Trump supporters really are. The paper was trying to find out how the former maintains such a high level of support in the face of so many legal problems, and the answer from his supporters was quite simple: They believe it is all made up. They genuinely believe that the legal problems are just politics as usual, which means they could be in for a rude awakening if he gets convicted, and that could end badly.

Donald Trump is now telling voters that he is going to be their "vengeance" if he gets back into the White House, directly contradicting what he told Fox News last week when he said that he'll be "too busy" for vengeance. He's dropped all the pretenses now, and he wants his supporters to know that he'll only be focusing on retribution and punishments if he gets a second term, and they seem to be perfectly fine with that.

A lawsuit that Donald Trump filed against The New York Times, which was handled by his favorite attorney Alina Habba, is now going to cost the former president nearly $400,000 in legal fees. Trump lost the lawsuit already, and the judge late last week ordered him to pay the legal fees of the people that he sued, including The Times. This is just another failure at the hands of Alina Habba, and Trump is going to have to make a difficult decision if this keeps up.

And Donald Trump might be using his legal problems to catapult himself to the top of the Republican primary, but they aren't helping him with the general public. A new poll shows that a majority of Americans would support the Supreme Court kicking Donald Trump off the 2024 ballots in some or all states, and a majority also support the criminal charges that have been brought against him in other cases. This runs contradictory to other polls that Trump loves to brag about.

Also, Lauren Boebert is finding out the hard way that you can't run away from your problems, especially if you're only running next door. A new report has found that a large number of the voters in Boebert's new district are already sick and tired of her, and many outright despise her for her disturbing antics. When coupled with the attacks that she's getting from her new Republican challengers, it is becoming clearer that Boebert isn't going to stay in Congress for much longer.

Finally, during his immunity hearing last week, Donald Trump's lawyers hinted at a possible new legal strategy that would represent a last ditch effort to get Jack Smith removed as the Special Prosecutor. According to Trump's lawyers, they don't believe that Smith's appointment was Constitutional, and they are using the dumbest logic possible to reach that conclusion.

Donald Trump's legal team got absolutely blasted by Judge Arthur Engoron this week as they attempted to delay the closing arguments in the fraud trial by arguing that Melania's mother's death is causing distress. The judge didn't buy that for one second (because Trump was still actively engaging in campaign activities, proving he has time) and the judge went further saying that Trump can't give his own closing statement after his lawyers refused to agree to conditions set out by the judge. Trump went ballistic and posted his anger for the world to see on Truth Social.

And Marjorie Taylor Greene has sent a criminal referral to the state government of Georgia, alleging that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has engaged in an "illegal" relationship with one of her prosecutors. Even if the affair allegations are true, it still has no bearing on the actual case or the indictments (which came from a grand jury, not the prosecutors.) But Greene is determined to protect Trump by any means necessary, and she doesn't care whose reputation she has to destroy to do it. 

Also, during his immunity hearing this week, one of Donald Trump's lawyers was asked about a hypothetical situation where a president could be prosecuted if they ordered the military to murder one of the president's enemies or political rivals. That exchange has made headlines all week, but now a former Trump aide - Alyssa Farah Griffin - says that the former President would openly suggest, while president, that certain people should be murdered. So maybe this wasn't as hypothetical as everyone thought, as Farron explains.

Finally, during a Fox News town hall event this week, Donald Trump openly admitted that he received millions of dollars from foreign governments while president, but he swears that the amounts aren't really as bad as they seem. He also maintained that he was "doing services" for those countries, a line that could easily be taken to mean that he was getting kickbacks for his policy decisions, even if he meant that his "business" was doing services in those countries.
