Donald Trump put his mental instability on full display for the world to see on Christmas Day when he posted a message on Truth Social telling all kinds of people that he despises to "rot in hell." The message even included an attack on people who drive electric cars, though it isn't quite clear why they were specifically targeted. If any other candidate for public office posted a message like this their career would be over, but somehow Trump keeps getting away with it. 

Also, a Republican Representative in North Dakota was stopped by police recently (and later arrested for driving under the influence,) where he went on a racist and homophobic rant against the officers and America. The Representative has since apologized for his words that evening, but it is hard to accept that apology when he was so filled with vitriol and hatred. 

And Lauren Boebert is in serious trouble of not even making it past her primary race next year, as voters and high-profile Republicans in Colorado cite her "improper behavior" as the reason that they are dumping her. The straw that broke the camel's back appears to be her actions during the Beetlejuice Musical performance a few months ago, and Republicans in her state are NOT letting go of their anger over that event.

Finally,  it was revealed last week that a taped phone call exists where both Donald Trump and RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel attempted to pressure two Michigan canvassers to NOT certify the votes of their county in order to help Trump steal the election. McDaniel even promised to hire the people good lawyers if they complied. This directly implicates the head of the RNC in Trump's plot, and Michigan's Secretary of State has not ruled out filing criminal charges against her.

The judge that oversaw Rudy Giuliani's defamation trial has now ordered the former Mayor of New York to immediately pay the $148 million verdict that he received last week. The judge cited Giuliani's previous failures to satisfy his financial obligations in the case as the reason for the new demand, but Giuliani may not have the cash on hand to satisfy this request. Farron explains what could happen to Giuliani if he doesn't pay up. 

Also, over the weekend, Donald Trump attended a UFC fight, but his wife wasn't the woman that was by his side all night. Rather than bringing his wife to the event, Trump decided to bring his lawyer and PAC spokesperson Alina Habba, even though the event had nothing to do with his criminal cases or his political campaign. Rumors are starting to swirl that Alina could be the fourth Mrs. Trump.

And the Justices of Colorado's Supreme Court have been inundated with violent threats from Trump supporters since their ruling on Tuesday afternoon that says that Trump can't be on the ballot for engaging in an insurrection. This follows the familiar pattern of Trump supporters threatening anyone that attempts to hold their messiah accountable for his actions, and it has resulted in a growing sense of danger for judges all over the country.

Finally, Matt Gaetz is warning his supporters that he could be the next member to be kicked out of Congress, and they should give him money to stop this. Gaetz is using the ongoing ethics investigation as a fundraising tool, but he seems to be highlighting some genuine concerns that he has about whether he can stay in office. The probe is not yet finished, but several lawmakers have given hints that they have some serious evidence against Gaetz.

The Colorado Supreme Court ruled this week that Donald Trump is barred from being on the ballot in the state because he engaged in an insurrection against the federal government. The case will head to the US Supreme Court soon, but the damage might already be done. Thanks to the ruling from the Court in Colorado, it is now "official" that Trump engaged in an insurrection, and that fact could hinder his legal defenses in other states as he faces criminal trials. 

Also, during a really bizarre interview this week, Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancee of Donald Trump, Jr., asked Alina Habba to please get her fiance and his family off the hook for the fraud in New York, and Alina proudly responded that she's "on it." Neither of these people seem to realize that liability was already determined, so there is no "getting them off" at this point. Habba, as a lawyer, should have explained that part.

And Republican Senator Ted Cruz went completely mental during a speech at a Turning Points event on Tuesday, screaming into a microphone about how "angry" liberals are (ironic.) But then Cruz went in a very weird direction, pointing out how sorry he is for liberal women because they have to sleep with "weenies" on the Left. Cruz looked like a bad standup comic that was bombing his set, and that's pretty much exactly what it was.

Finally, during an interview on Fox News on Tuesday evening, Texas' Republican Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick floated the idea of kicking President Biden off the ballot in Texas to avenge Trump. Patrick doesn't realize that there are legal mechanisms in place that were used by REPUBLICANS to remove Trump in Colorado, or he simply doesn't care enough to take that into consideration.

Donald Trump went completely bonkers on Truth Social after Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that one of Trump's star witnesses at the fraud trial had "lost all credibility." Trump attacked the judge for being "stupid" and claimed that the judge didn't understand how trials work - a claim that surely won't work out well for him when the final verdict is handed down next month.

And the two Georgia election workers that successfully sued Rudy Giuliani for defamation have already filed another lawsuit against him, and this one isn't necessarily seeking more money. The purpose of this lawsuit, based on what legal experts say, is to stop Giuliani from engaging in future defamation against the two by putting an injunction on him. And if he violates that (assuming it is granted), he could be held in criminal contempt and thrown in jail. 

Also, Donald Trump's lawyers filed a desperate motion in Georgia this week in their latest attempt to get the felony charges against him dismissed, but they used the same tired argument that they've tried in the past. They are arguing that Trump was just exercising his rights under the First Amendment when he attempted to overturn Georgia's election results - but they've tried that argument before and it was immediately shot down by the courts. Farron attempts to explain why Trump's lawyers keep doing the same thing again and again. 

Finally, Marjorie Taylor Greene proudly posed for a photograph with Jacob Chansley at a Turning Point conference this past weekend, and she went as far as to say that she was "honored" to meet him. If his name isn't familiar, his face certainly is. Chansley was the man in the horned helmet that became the poster child for the Capitol Riot, and he served more than 2 years in jail for his actions after pleading guilty. Greene not only defended the photograph, but also defended Chansley's actions - which, again, he pleaded guilty to.

Trump lawyer Alina Habba took the stage at a Turning Point conference this past weekend to remind the crowd that she isn't very good at her job. During a truly bizarre rant, Habba brought up the fact that her and Donald Trump were sanctioned $1 million for filing a frivolous lawsuit against Democrats that was tossed out of court, and then said that the media won't tell you that story. Does she WANT the media to remind everyone that she is a loser in the courtroom?

Also, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham was put on the spot during an interview over the weekend when he was asked to respond to Donald Trump's comments about immigrants "poisoning the blood" of our country. Graham tried to dance around the question a bit before he was pressed and finally admitted that he has no problem with the words that Trump uses as long as they get the results he wants. This is how fascism and authoritarianism take hold.

And a Republican strategist can read the writing on the wall, and she is predicting that Republicans in the House are going to get decimated in next year's elections. There's good reason to believe this, too: House Republicans haven't passed a single bill this year to help American families, and reports say that they've really only passed ONE piece of legislation that wasn't budget-related. The public is paying attention, and that's also a bad sign for Republicans.

Finally, less than a week ago, Donald Trump told a crowd in Iowa that the economy is going to bottom out and cause the largest depression ever if President Biden wins reelection. A few days later, he whined to a crowd that the economy is doing too good under President Biden. Both things cannot be true, but Trump had to come up with something after he took so much heat for claiming the economy was going to crash when all signs point to the opposite.

A classified document outlining Russian election interference has gone missing - and it hasn't been seen since Trump was in the White House. This is almost a little too on the nose, and it would make perfect sense for Trump to want this document to never see the light of day again. There are no accusations yet that Trump took it, but it certainly sounds like something he would do.

Also, Republican Representative Elise Stefanik is trying to suck up to Donald Trump, and perhaps even protect Rudy Giuliani, by filing a complaint against a judge that Trump hates. The judge, US District Judge Beryl Howell, is currently overseeing Giuliani's defamation lawsuit in Georgia, but Stefanik says that the judge recently got "political" during a speech at an event. Stefanik says that the speech was proof that the judge can't be impartial.

And court hearings in Michigan this past week were underway, with Michigan's attorney general arguing that the fake electors in the state that were charged earlier this year should all go to trial. But the fake electors wanted to weasel their way out of this mess, and they attempted to do so by throwing the Trump campaign squarely under the bus, saying that THEY were the ones who cooked up the plot. This might not mean much in Michigan (or maybe it will), but it will certainly be useful for Jack Smith.

Finally,  during one of his monologues late last week, Jimmy Kimmel tore into Donald Trump's recent speech in Iowa where he challenged the crowd to name one thing that has gotten better under President Biden. Kimmel immediately jumped in and said that there were lots of things, but probably the biggest improvement is that no one is "drinking bleach" anymore, referencing Trump's idea on how to treat COVID.

The Arizona state Supreme Court has given the go-ahead for the state Bar Association to conduct disciplinary hearings against the team of lawyers that brought Kari Lake's bogus election claims to court. The lawyers could face sanctions, at a minimum, or possibly lose their law licenses in the state completely, depending on how the hearings play out. The only problem is that Lake is getting off without punishment.

And Republicans held a press conference ahead of their vote to formalize the impeachment inquiry against President Biden this week, and things went completely off the rails when Marjorie Taylor Greene interrupted Jim Jordan and started ranting about Hunter Biden's sex life. Jordan became so uncomfortable that he decided to flee the event, but Greene continued spouting her conspiracies. 

Also, in one of the largest acts of projection that we've ever seen from Donald Trump, the former president said this week that it is the Democratic Party that is somehow abusing the Constitution in order to hold onto power. For the record, that's actually one of the things that Trump has been indicted for, along with about 90 other felony charges. So the only thing he knows how to do is to claim that the other side is guilty of what he did.

Finally, Donald Trump has promised on several occasions to be a "dictator for one day," but his supporters apparently don't think that's good enough. In interviews and posts on social media, his diehard fans are saying that they LOVE the idea of Trump becoming a dictator, even though it flies in the face of the Constitution and the principles on which this country was founded. As predicted, they fell in line quickly and want even more than what he promised.

 Donald Trump has launched a new grift just in time for the holiday shopping season. If you've got $5,000 to burn, you can purchase all 47 of Trump's "digital trading cards" - and by purchasing all of them, you'll also get a "real" piece of the suit that he wore for his Georgia mugshot. There is nothing that this man won't attempt to monetize, and his base will buy them all up before the weekend.

Also, former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway has taken up the cause of trying to save the Republican Party from themselves, and she's already failing miserably. Conway wants Republicans to let the public know that they still support the right to contraceptives, even though they don't want women to have autonomy over their own bodies. This linguistic sleight of hand isn't going to work with voters.

And Donald Trump's lawyers filed a panicked motion with Judge Tanya Chutkan on Tuesday evening, begging the judge to "stay" the case until after the Supreme Court rules on whether Trump has immunity or not. This was their plan all along, and that's why Trump went ballistic when the Court said that they would expedite their decision. But this move is likely to be granted, according to legal experts.

Finally, newly-revealed text messages between Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro and a Trump aide named Mike Roman offer proof that the Trump team knew the fake elector scheme was illegal. Chesebro specifically asked Roman if they should "soften" the language of the fake elector certificates to make sure that it wasn't illegal, and Roman instructed him to NOT do that. Chesebro did end up altering a few certificates' language, but not all of them. IF there is a smoking gun in the case, this would be it, as Farron explains.

In a filing on Monday evening, special prosecutor Jack Smith revealed that he will be calling an expert witness to explain the data from Donald Trump's cell phone both before and during the Capitol Riot. This will include data obtained from his Twitter account that was successfully retrieved earlier this year. This is a giant revelation, and it is proof that Smith has even more evidence than we could have imagined.

Also, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz traveled far from his home in Florida all the way to Ohio to be presented with an award from a local Republican Party chapter, but things didn't go as planned. Gaetz was presented with an award, but a clever troll usurped the moment and handed him the award saying that it was for his use of Venmo to pay off women. Gaetz was visibly annoyed and humiliated and quickly left the stage after getting angry at the activist. 

And Rudy Giuliani's defamation trial began this week, and it could not have gotten off to a worse start. To begin, Giuliani drew the judge's wrath when he showed up 20 minutes late for the start of the trial, and then his lawyer managed to anger the judge when he objected to evidence that he had previously approved during the pre-trial negotiations. Things are likely to get worse for Giuliani from here.

Finally, Republican Congressman Ken Buck has been one of the loudest GOP voices in Congress talking about how stupid their push for impeachment is. But even though Buck admits that there is so far no evidence showing that President Biden committed any crimes, he admitted this week that he'll still probably vote for impeachment anyway. Not only is this irresponsible, it is proof that the impeachment isn't about accountability and is instead 100% about revenge.

Donald Trump appeared to suffer the biggest meltdown that he has ever had when he made the all-caps announcement on Sunday evening that he would NOT be testifying in the fraud trial Monday (yesterday.) Trump claimed that he already had his "Perry Mason moment," and that there was no need to go back, especially since the gag order was still in place (which makes no sense.) Trump is losing his mind, and that could put a lot of people in danger.

And disgraced former Republican Representative George Santos admitted during an interview with CBS New York that he is afraid of going to jail - he says that it is not a nice place and everyone should be afraid of it - and then admitted that he'd "happily" take a plea deal that involves anything other than jail. The likelihood of that happening is close to zero, as he even admits that he has nothing to offer prosecutors in return for a deal. 

Also, in a bit of an unusual move, special prosecutor Jack Smith submitted a filing to the court on Saturday evening that contained even more damning evidence against Donald Trump. Based on the filing, the new evidence suggests that there was "unanimous consent" among ALL of Trump's intelligence officials that there was no widespread evidence of fraud in the 2020 election. This massively undermines all of Trump's claims, and could ruin his potential defense.

Finally, during a speech at the New York Young Republican Club this past weekend, Donald Trump doubled down on his promise to be a dictator "for one day" if he gets reelected. The crowd erupted in wild cheers that led into a chant of "build the wall," which just shows that these people have no problem with giving up the US Constitution to make Trump a God-King of this country. Farron talks about the terrifying statement and the even more horrifying reaction from the crowd.
