The former lawmaker who authored and co-sponsored Florida's notorious "Don't Say Gay" Bill has been sentenced to four months in prison for defrauding the Paycheck Protection Program that was put in place at the start of the COVID pandemic. The lawmaker - who resigned in disgrace at the end of last year - secured a loan of $150,000 based on fraudulent information submitted to the government and will spend the next few months behind bars. But the people of Florida will continue to suffer under the legislation of a criminal for a much longer time.

Also,  a very tearful Marjorie Taylor Greene whined to Alex Jones last week about how emotional she gets when she thinks about Donald Trump going to prison. Greene is apparently just so upset about the thought of Trump being held accountable for his actions that she has trouble functioning. But Greene may want to take a closer look at their relationship and ask herself why this even matters to her - other than the obvious political gain she gets from it. 

And finally, Ivanka Trump is terrified about the thought of having to testify against her father and brothers that her lawyers have filed a flimsy and almost laughable motion in court to prevent her from having to testify. Her lawyers are arguing that she was already dismissed from the case, and that making her testify is somehow a violation of that, but that's now how the law works at all. She clearly knows that she has information that will harm her family, and that's what scares her the most.

NBC News recently spoke to multiple Trump supporters about the prospect of the former President going to prison, and they all basically gave the same response: They don't care. In fact, many of them demanded that Trump be allowed to serve as President from prison, with one suggesting that they could just "move the Oval Office" into a jail cell for him. There is no reaching these people, and they certainly can't be reasoned with.

Also, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade found himself in hot water this past week when he was caught on an open mic calling a Republican Congressman a "dumbass." Republicans weren't happy with the comment, and Kilmeade decided to double down on it and further attacked Republicans. While his reason for attacking and name-calling Republicans is wrong, his overall sentiment is correct, and that might be the thing that hurts the Republican Party the most about the comments. 

Finally, special prosecutor Jack Smith is setting Donald Trump up for failure in the federal case against him in Washington, D.C. Smith is demanding that Trump inform the court if he plans on using an "advice of counsel" defense, which would mean that Smith would get his hands on all of Trump's correspondences with his lawyers. If Trump says he isn't, then that defense can NOT be used in court. Smith has laid a brilliant trap for Trump where there is no safe way out for the former president.

Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, fresh off her $19,000 lectern scandal, needed a diversion for her constituents this week, so she decided to issue an executive order banning what she calls "woke words" from the state government. It is unclear if any of these words or phrases were actually used by the state, but again, this is only about distracting her voters from her scandals AND the horrible condition that the state is in.

Also, Donald Trump's lawyer Christopher Kise was scolded by the judge in the New York fraud trial this week, and forced to apologize to two female lawyers that he insulted. For one of the lawyers, Kise made a comment suggesting that she wasn't smart enough to understand what he was saying, and the other was on the receiving end of Kise's arrogance when he brushed her off and told her he was only talking to the judge (she was the judge's clerk.) Things aren't going well for Trump and his legal team, as Farron  explains. 

And finally, the public was definitely surprised by Sidney Powell's decision to take a plea deal and flip on her co-defendants in Georgia, but those close to Donald Trump say that he was "blindsided" by the news. This is a good indication that Trump and his team are scared about what Powell may share with the court. The reports also suggest that Trump's team believed that Powell would be the hardest nut to crack for the prosecution, and the fact that they got her means that they might be able to flip anyone.

Former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell finally agreed to accept a plea deal from prosecutors in Georgia, the day before her criminal trial was set to begin. This means that Powell will not face prison time even after pleading guilty to numerous misdemeanors. The punishments are relatively weak, but that could mean that she has valuable information to share about her fellow co-defendants, which she is now legally obligated to provide at their trials.

And as he was leaving court for his fraud trial on Wednesday, Donald Trump declared a victory of sorts, saying that he had a "Perry Mason" moment where his legal team allegedly got a slam dunk against one of their own witnesses. The truth is that Trump and his team were actually scolded by the judge for their behavior, and the judge went as far as to say that he doesn't care if they got the witness to commit perjury. Farron  explains what happened and why it was anything but a victory for Trump.

Also, New York Attorney General Letitia James is demanding access to Trump Organization emails after Forbes revealed that they have emails from former Trump CFO Allen Weisselberg that could prove he committed perjury in court. James is taking this very seriously, and if she can prove it, it would cause Weisselberg's parole to be revoked, thereby sending him back to prison. Farron explains what's happening and why this could be further bad news for Donald Trump. 

And finally, Donald Trump's lawyer John Lauro made a significant mistake in a court filing this week that caused the judge to have to temporarily reject it. It turns out that Lauro is not a member of the District Bar for Washington, D.C., so the judge was forced to not accept his motion of appeal for the gag ruling placed on Trump on Monday by Judge Tanya Chutkan. This is a problem that can be quickly remedied, but it shows the complete lack of competence that Trump's lawyers are operating with.

Donald Trump and his company suffered a major blow in the New York fraud trial this week when their own witness shattered their defense. The witness, Doug Larson, was allegedly the man who appraised Trump's properties well above their actual value, but under questioning by the state attorney, Larson says he never did any appraisals - even though his name is listed on at least five years' worth of documents from the Trump Organization. 

And Republican Congressman Don Bacon's wife received a threatening text message this week, warning her that her husband will never work in Washington again if he doesn't support Jim Jordan for House speaker. The anonymous texter has not yet been identified, but threats like these aren't helping the Republicans look any more competent as they struggle to find a leader. This also shows the depths to which some members of the GOP will sink to install their new puppet.

Also, lawyers for Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro are grasping at straws at the start of their trial approaches in just a few days, and they have proposed asking a series of questions to prospective jurors that clearly violate court rules. The lawyers want to ask potential jurors about their opinions of Powell and Chesebro, a move that could potentially taint the jury - and something that is expressly forbidden during jury selection.

And finally, during a campaign event in Iowa this week, Donald Trump proclaimed that military officials and leaders were "some of the dumbest people I've ever met." The mentally incompetent former President has repeatedly tried to attack people who disagree with him as either corrupt or stupid in an effort to make himself look better by comparison, but these attacks on the military are going too far during a time of international crises.

During a speech this week, Donald Trump got completely derailed from his talking points when a fly flew near his head. His brain proceeded to completely break as he then went on a deranged tangent about other times he encountered flies, and then he lied to the crowd claiming that you can't buy flypaper anymore. The whole incident was about as bizarre as possible, and just gives more proof that Trump's mental competency is virtually non-existent.

Also, during a recent interview with Kari Lake, Eric Trump praised his father, Donald, for burying his mother, Ivana, on a golf course in a grave that hasn't been tended to since she was placed there. Eric said that this was proof that his father has a "heart of gold," even though it is obvious that Donald placed Ivana there for tax purposes, and not because he "wanted to be close" to her. 

FInally, shortly after Judge Tanya Chutkan placed a limited gag order on Donald Trump on Monday, the former President took to social media to rail against the judge and the so-called "witch hunt" before announcing that he'll appeal the ruling. Trump, and later his campaign, claimed that the Biden administration was attempting to silence them, and these statements together could actually be a violation of the overall order.

Donald Trump's legal team understands that Judge Aileen Cannon doesn't have enough experience to be as tough on him as the other criminal trial judges have been, and they are using it to their advantage. Whereas other judges have made a habit of rapidly dismissing Trump's idiotic requests, Cannon is wasting her time by listening to every single motion and scheduling hearings on them far into the future. This is helping Trump tremendously.

Also, Fani Willis issued another response to Jim Jordan's completely corrupt request for her grand jury materials last week, informing the Republican Congressman that he's either a complete moron or suggesting that he might be completely corrupt. A combination of both is likely at play, but Willis is not going to succumb to the pressure being put on her by a group of Trump loyalists who have no respect for the rule of law.

And finally, Forbes recently removed Donald Trump from their list of wealthiest Americans, largely due to his failing Truth Social platform, and the former President is not happy at all about this decision. It took him a while to come up with the words to attack the outlet, but he finally released a statement attacking them for not including him on the list. He claims that Forbes is the one who is failing, while also saying that they are way off about his net worth - something that prosecutors in New York have done a great job of exposing for the public to see.

As part of our Q&A series, one viewer was curious to know which politicians and/or celebrities that we know of regularly watch Farron Balanced and Ring of Fire. Also, even though the public is hoping that Donald Trump gets hit with a gag order to make him stop talking about his criminal trials, the truth is that he's helping out prosecutors every time he opens his mouth. He's essentially admitted to nearly everything that he's been accused of, and those are statements that are absolutely going to be used against him in court, even if it is only to put him on the spot during a cross-examination.

Finally, Donald Trump's cognitive abilities aren't exactly the best out there, and he's got enough crazy statements out there on the record to build a solid case for an insanity defense at his criminal trials. But could he ever bring himself to actually make this admission in court, or would his ego get in the way of a potential legal defense, even if it keeps him out of prison?

The most common question we get from our viewers is "how are the pets?" Farron has lots of pets, and several of them have been seen on the channel throughout the years, and viewers want to know what's going on with them. Farron Cousins is more than happy to give updates and show off the two newest additions to the family. 

Also, the corporate media has been the biggest recipient of ad dollars and viewers due to the insanity of Donald Trump over the last 8 years. But online media has also benefited from his existence, and the Right has even mockingly asked liberals what they'll talk about when Trump is gone. Luckily there is never a shortage of Republican stupidity, and Farron explains why Trump's absence won't slow down progressive media (when it finally happens.)

And finally, Republican policies are regressive, no doubt about it. But the Republican Party of today appears to be competing with itself to see which politician can enact the most disturbing and oppressive legislation you could ever imagine. These attacks on women, immigrants, all people of color, and especially the LGBTQ community are causing people to flee red states to avoid this oppression.

Donald Trump is not only getting his pension for being President of the United States, but taxpayers are still having to shell out money to the Trump Organization for services used by the Secret Service at Trump's resorts. The problem is that Trump is guaranteed that protection for life, so pending a change in the legislation, Trump can keep charging the government for expenses for the rest of his life.

Also,  efforts to block Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot are picking up steam all over the country. And even though the arguments are solid and the 14th Amendment is clear, these challenges to Trump's candidacy aren't likely to yield the results that we are hoping for, and that's all because of the right wing Supreme Court that will ultimately make the final decision, if necessary.

And the MAGA movement in Congress, led by people like Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene, have made their presence felt and in recent weeks it has become obvious that they are calling the shots. Couple that with the efforts of MAGA-minded Republican governors to strip us of our rights, and we are very quickly looking at an increasingly bleak future for the country. 

Finally, not only are Republican policies dangerous to our health (statistics prove that Red States have a lower quality of life and lower life expectancy), but the nonstop drama and stupidity from these people is having a seriously negative effect on our collective blood pressure. A viewer wants to know how Farron keeps his personal health (both physical and mental) in check while having to deal with this insanity.
