The plight of the family farmer is no more. Food prices are soaring; the Chinese want our chickens, hogs and corn; and investors want a real asset to hedge against inflation. More food crops are being diverted to the production of bio fuels. All told, U.S. farmland prices have increased more than 17 percent a year over the last decade of economic uncertainty.
