  • National Unity, Western Alienation, The History of Conservatism in Canada & Integrity in Politics wi

The Honourable Preston Manning is one of the few in our national history to accomplish the incredible feat of beginning a successful new federal political party, the Reform Party of Canada. It eventually became the modern day Conservative Party of Canada and went on to form government federally.

He’s been deemed the father of modern day Canadian conservatism and has a long list of accomplishments. They include serving as Member of Parliament for almost a decade, receiving several honourary degrees from various Canadian Universities, the establishment of the Manning Centre for Building Democracy (now the Strong and Free Network) and has written several books such as “Think Big”, My Adventures in Life and Democracy”, “Do Something, 365 Ways You Can Strengthen Canada”, “Faith, Leadership and Public Life” along with several others.

He is with us today to give his perspective on multiple critical issues for the future of our nation.

In this interview, we discuss national unity (western alienation and aspirations), his political history and principled politics in Canada.

This is part 1 of 2. The 2nd part will air next week and in it we discuss several other issues as well.

  • Abundant Living

Even prior to COVID-19, the issue of health was one of the top priorities for Canadians.

Health transfer payments are the single largest financial transfer that happens in our nation currently, with $83.9 billion being received by the provinces and territories in 2021.

Some of the leading causes of death in Canada are cardiovascular disease and cancer, specifically lung cancer.

The good news is that these, and other diseases, can often be mitigated through healthy lifestyle choices. With an aging population in some regions of Canada, and with so many on the edge because of what we’ve been going through with the COVID-19, this is an amazing time to have an uplifting conversation about health and wellness.

Kimberley Milousis is passionate about this topic.

Kimberley is a health entrepreneur that has built her livelihood on helping others get and stay healthy. In early 2021, she released her book, Life More Abundantly, and she’s here with us today to talk about all things health. I hope you’ll not only be uplifted by this conversation, but that it will give you great takeaways for your own health journey.

  • Highlights Of 2021

There are so many critical issues to cover right now -- many which will be of critical importance in 2022.

Before we switch our focus there, however, we wanted to dedicate a full show to looking back on some important interviews in 2021.

We had an incredible line up of distinguished guests this year including:

    - The Hon. Brian Peckford, Canada last living architect of the Canadian Charter of Rights and former Premier of Newfoundland

    - Lt. Col Dave Redman, one of Canada's leading emergency preparedness experts

    - Erin Coates, the wife of the first pastor to be jailed in Canada in 2021

    ...and many others.

This show shares highlights from these interviews, and others. We hope the wisdom and insights that they shared will be helpful for us all as we look towards 2022.

  • Adoption and Foster Care

Today in Canada, there are over 30,000 foster children awaiting a permanent adoptive home.

Here are some more stats on the issue:

In any given month there are almost 9,300 children and youth in foster care in Ontario alone, with 800 to 1,000 aging out of the system every year.

Manitoba has the highest provincial average of 33.2 for every 1,000 children in foster care, followed by the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, Saskatchewan and Nunavut.

Over 50% of foster children are indigenous, despite them being under 8% of the national child population.

All foster children, however, who age out of the system are much more likely to experience homelessness, and are more vulnerable to organized crime such as human trafficking.

How has Covid-19 impacted children in foster care?

Experts say that the impacts have been devastating, with many children being isolated from essential support services and counsellors. Some children have actually been placed in care because of the impacts of the pandemic on their parents or primary caregivers.

In spite of the massive need in this area, a 2017 survey found that fewer than 8% of Canadians ranked children at risk as their most important charitable cause, likely because most Canadian simply don’t know how authentic the need of this demographic is.

With us to talk about it is Amanda Preston, who knows the needs well.

Amanda has both fostered and adopted, and after seeing the gaps in the system and so many foster and adoptive parents that need help, she started Home For Every Child, a non-profit to support those who want to foster and adopt. She’s here with us today to give an update on what’s happening in Canada and how we can be a part of the change that these children at risk need.

  • Pastors In Jail Part 1

On this show we are talking about pastors who have been imprisoned in Canada for breaching health protocols.

Both governments and churches have walked off their maps since early 2020, when efforts to curb the health impacts of Covid-19 first began. Health protocols and policies have varied from province to province and changed constantly.

In early 2021, the Alberta government increased restrictions on church gatherings at that time in the province. Many complied, but some leaders felt that the measures were doing more harm to their congregations than good.

One such leader was Pastor James Coates from GraceLife Church in Edmonton, Alberta. He and his leadership team, as a matter of personal conscience and conviction, actually breached the health protocols. This landed Pastor Coates in jail, and led to the eventual lockdown of his church building by the Alberta government.

Following this, Pastor Tim Stephens from Fairview Baptist Church in Calgary, was also arrested in front of his small children at his home after allegedly violating public health restrictions and failure to comply with a court order that was never actually received. He is expected to be before the courts with his case in the spring of 2022.

These pastors, along with others across the nation, represent a spectrum of theological perspectives, but all have one in thing common, in that they are conducting themselves in accordance to their personal conscience, and standing on section two of the Canadian Charter, which protects freedom of religion and conscience in Canada.

Pastor James and Pastor Tim join us to update and discuss what has been happening with their cases. Dr. Joe Boot from the Ezra Institute also joins us to give commentary.

Thank you for joining. If you feel this is an important discussion, please share.

  • Pornography and Human Trafficking

Thousands of lives and relationships across Canada have been profoundly impacted by pornography. It is commonly agreed that the porn industry targets children in the hopes of getting them hooked as consumers for life, and most experts in this field would agree that the porn industry is one of the main elements fuelling human trafficking both in Canada and worldwide. Right now, there are more people trapped in sex slavery than at any point in human history.

Joining us this show are two exceptional guests. The first is Helen Taylor, the Vice President of Exodus Cry, a leading advocacy group, both raising awareness on this issue and fighting it head on. She joins us to discuss the issue and also their new documentary, “Raised on Porn”.

Also joining us is Member of Parliament, Arnold Viersen, who has become well known as a freedom fighter on the issue, raising awareness in the House of Commons on the devastating impacts exposure to sexually explicit images have on Canadians, and calling on our leaders to act to protect the vulnerable on this issue.

It’s an honour to have both of them with us. Thank you for joining. If you feel this is an important discussion, please share.

  • Canadian Charter Rights

In 1982, the Charter was added to the Constitution, meaning that a guarantee of rights and freedoms for Canadian citizens became a part of the Supreme Law of the land. These rights and freedoms include freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief, expression, the press, peaceful assembly, association, mobility rights, and the right to liberty and security of the person.

Some would say in this season, it could be argued that many of these rights have been breached.

Here to discuss the Charter and if, or when, it is ever granted by law to be overridden, is The Honourable Brian Peckford.

Mr. Peckford is a very accomplished Canadian political leader, and is the only remaining premier that was at the table with Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau and his government as they crafted the Canadian charter.

He’s such an important voice for such an important conversation to so many of us right now.

Thanks for joining us. Please share with your friends and loved ones.

  • Entrepreneurs In Canada

Canada’s entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy, with small businesses leading in the area of providing jobs, and therefore livelihood stability, for Canadian families nationwide. Many Canadian have been absolutely shaken with the arrival of Covid-19 and the various mandates implemented to manage it. Some jobs have been put on hold, others dramatically reconfigured, and thousands have lost their jobs because of the recent vaccine mandate.

According to Stats Canada, the unemployment rate was 9.5% in 2020, a significant increase from the previous year at 5.7%. We have not seen these unemployment rates in over a decade. Here at Faytene TV, we are hearing almost daily from people who are currently in major employment shifts, with some even starting from Ground Zero for the first time in their lives.

Well, our guest today, Dr. Richard Goossen, knows firsthand how to build something from nothing, and how to help others do the same. Dr. Goossen has taught subjects such as entrepreneurial finance, strategic management, business law, international business law and more at multiple universities, and has extensive experience in doing business in Asia. He currently chairs the ELO Group, which focuses on equipping, connecting, and inspiring Christian entrepreneurs.

If you or somebody you know is facing a shift in their career, or perhaps just wanting to be more effective in the marketplace, then I believe today’s conversation is for you.

Thanks for joining us. Please share with your friends and loved ones.

  • Mandated Vaccinations For Employment & Charter Rights

Over the past several weeks we have received a flood of contacts from professionals being threatened by job loss around new medical mandates.

Now, one or two calls have turned into an absolute flood of professionals, pushing back on coercive medical orders, and even going public. In September, 2021, a group of more than 3,500 medical professionals in Alberta published an open letter to Alberta Health Services, or AHS, expressing their concerns.

Here today to discuss what is happening from a constitutional perspective is Carol Crosson of Crosson Constitutional Law, and President of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, John Carpay.

Thank you for taking the time to join us for this extremely important and personal conversation for the health and freedoms of Canadians.
