This Sunday, we talked about the defining characteristics of a spiritual leader.

The young boy Samuel, in his mini priest's outfit, was growing up and learning to hear from God. As he grew, God was preparing him for something great. This Sunday, in contrast to Eli and his sons, we saw the marks to true healthy, spiritual leadership.

This week, the story takes a surprising turn as Samuel grows up at God's house and witnesses the sons of the priest who are absolutely awful. They were taking advantage of people, and the Bible calls them "worthless men," which you can guess was not a compliment!

Samuel begins his time serving the Lord in the middle of this corrupt behavior, and yet, we see God working quietly, even imperceptibly, to advance his kingdom through Samuel, despite the evil taking place.
