This month we join James in East London in search of some of his favorite New York food: bagels. I know this isn’t a food blog, but a good New York-style bagel has pretty much been impossible to find in London… that is, until we tried Paulie’s Bagels. So I thought I had to share here.
When I had this generously filled bacon, egg, and cheese bagel in my hand, it was like I was back in Brooklyn. If you are looking for a little taste of NYC, I highly recommend looking this place up.
(I’m not sponsored by these guys, by the way. Just love a good New York Bagel).
Alright, back to the music. This month we have two hours of what can only be called a bit of escapism. It’s two hours of jazz, indie electronic, funk and tropical psychedelic to fill your soul. It features new music from The Ironsides, Sven Wunder, Pearl & the Oysters, Mulatu Astatke, Doctor Bionic, Goose Down, Lars Fiil, Sweatson & Klank, The Groovy Nobody, and many many more.
Get involved!
(before you get into the music, here are some videos from the music on this month’s mixtape
Pearl & The Oysters pyscedelic visuals for their new single, “Side Quest”
Pachyman’s live session from recording “Switched-On”
The retro Hermanos Gutierrez video for their track “Barrio Hustle”
And last, but certainly not least, the very hilarious video for God Colony & Roy’s single, “Loss is not Infinite”
—
PS: Go buy the new album from The Ironsides!

The Monthly Mixtape is also available on iTunes.
By the way, you should check out our Ten Year Anniversary album in beautiful translucent yellow vinyl. Available in a limited-edition marbled blue vinyl as well. If you want to give the record a sample before you buy, have a listen on our mixtape special podcast here.
