Grace and Thomas are back on Day 1 of 2024 WNBA free agency, and...it's quiet. Stewie's been cored, there's been a handful of qualifying offers, but otherwise, it's a pretty quiet start to what looks to be a decently exciting free agency period.

After discussing the start of free agency, Grace and Thomas switch gears and discuss various league goings on. The Sparks have a new GM (and Grace sneaks in another girl dad joke). More interestingly, though, is the report that Elena Delle Donne is expected to move teams in free agency. Grace and Thomas discuss where she could go to fulfill a wish for winning and what may still be important to her despite leaving home.

Finally, they touch on a bit of college hoops news. They finally cover the LSU drama of last month (hey, they were sick!) with Kateri Poole. They also touch on another bit of unfortunate injury news for UConn. It's been a quiet week, so there's not much to say.

Grace and Thomas are back with even less coughing! First, they cover the earth shattering news that yes, Caitlin Clark is good at basketball. At this point, everyone's just waiting for the almost certain moment her name is called for the first pick in the draft, but Grace mentions that if Clark struggles at times during her first season, it's okay and it doesn't mean she isn't great, just that she needs an adjustment period like almost every other rookie.

Then, Grace and Thomas wrap up their free agency previews with a look at rotation players and bench pieces. They bring up that most of the lower tiers of free agents will wait until later in the free agency period, and they touch on potential Liberty moves from this group of players.

Finally, they get into some other college basketball news. They touch on Hannah Hidalgo's freshman dominance, the Grambling State beatdown of the College of Biblical Studies, and the new NCAA deal (which is VERY difficult for Grace to say) and how that will help the WNBA, the NWSL, and the PWHL. They drift a little into general women's sports at the very end, because after Gotham and PWHL New York's week, how could they not?

Grace and Thomas were felled by COVID and non-COVID related illnesses over the past few weeks, but they're back to chat all the big WNBA news of the last few weeks. First, they cover the WNBA draft lottery and add in an overview of the first round of the draft. Indiana is in prime positioning for a franchise-defining era after getting their second first overall pick in a row. How will they capitalize?

Next, they cover the next group of WNBA free agents with free agency lurking right around the corner. Some people put themselves in position for a big contract. Some people may retire. Some people have retired since Grace wrote the outline pre-COVID. Free agency discussions start in less than a month, so there's not much time before these players find their new spots or stay right where they are.

Finally, the WNBA schedule was released (almost a week after it was promised to Grace). There's some key matchups starting right out the gate on Opening Day. A few other notable games and a large gap for the Olympics highlight the regular season schedule.

The end of the LSU saga (for now) has come. Angel Reese has returned, and Grace and Thomas discuss how great it is to have her back, and how poorly this was handled. They get into how Milky opened her player up to more scrutiny under the guise of "protecting" her and opened the rest of the team to some scrutiny as well. All's well that end's well, though, and for now this chapter is closed.

Then, they begin a free agency preview. They get into the toppling free agents of the WNBA, with free agency looming a little more than a month away. Some people may move, a lot will probably stay. But there are some interesting names that are wild card, and whose services will be courted by several teams.

Finally, Grace and Thomas look at the other college basketball stories. Aaliyah Gayles has scored for the first time, JuJU Watkins is making a name for herself, UConn is struggling. It's a bit of a down period, but it should pick up soon as the NCAA tournament moves closer.

After a holiday week sabbatical, Thomas and Grace are back with tons of college basketball news. First, they discuss the ongoing saga of Angel Reese's absence from LSU games. They break down all the major moments, discuss the dynamics of running a college athletic program like a professional sports team and not an extracurricular, and get into Kim Mulkey's legacy as one of the great sports villains.

Then, they go into UConn's injury woes. Azzi Fudd is out for the season after tearing her medial meniscus and ACL in her right knee, and this is the latest in a long line of UConn women's basketball injuries over the past few years. Is it a string of flukes or is this the manifestation of a larger coaching issue?

Grace and Thomas are back with more expansion news to talk about. After the Portland bid fell through, reports are now surfacing that Denver and Charlotte may be the two frontrunners for the next WNBA franchise. Denver could be a current hotbed, but Charlotte has some serious women's basketball history. But hopefully this all gets sorted out soon.

Then, they talk college hoops, with two major teams suffering losses in the first week that could throw this season for a loop. Caitlin Clark is still great, however, and they then get into the NIL debate happening online this week and what the true nature of NIL athletes transitioning from college to the pros would have to do.

Finally, they discuss the big games from W players overseas, and why it sucks that players have to do this. Grace shouts out the new Candace Parker ESPN documentary for providing player insight into this necessity, and they move into discussing what could possibly be the end of Candace Parker's career, without a retirement tour. Plus a little soccer chat!

Grace and Thomas are back, and if they thought the offseason meant news would slow, boy were they mistaken. First, they go into the news that the planned Portland WNBA expansion team fell through after millionaire Kirk Brown pulled out. They talk about the differences that popped up between Brown and WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert and ask: what the hell is Engelbert doing besides being the most chaotic individual in sports?

Then, they talk about the relationship between the league and the media, as prompted by a recent Washington Post article. Obviously the two need to work together but there are so many aspects of the relationship that complicate that ability, and there needs to be work done by both sides (and help from the NBA) to heal and grow the fractured relationship.

Finally, they touch on the major storylines going into the start of the college basketball season. Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese and LSU. They also touch on USC's Aaliyah Gates and her inspiring journey back to the court after being shot 9 times.

Thomas and Grace are back for the first offseason episode of Top of the Key, but there's still plenty to discuss. First, a short bit on Teresa Weatherspoon's introduction as the Head Coach of the Chicago Sky. They're excited for T-Spoon, excited for the future of the Sky, and excited to see what she can do with Kahleah Copper especially.

Then, they get into the Nate Tibbetts disaster-class on how not to talk at a press conference. They're generally baffled by his main comments about the league, though Grace comes up with the most generous reading of what he said and it makes a tiny bit more sense. Still, you'd think someone as qualified as a "girl dad" could have the right words to say at a press conference he knew was coming.

Finally, Grace and Thomas get into the upcoming 2024 draft class. With Azzi Fudd officially staying at UConn, and Angel Reese hinting at using her bonus COVID year and staying at LSU, the next draft is looking a little weaker. And that helps the WNBPA in the upcoming CBA negotiations, as clearly players would rather make more at college than take a pay cut to not even be guaranteed a spot on a WNBA team for less than $75,000.

Grace and Thomas are back, finally, a little over a week after the WNBA Finals ended, an end they were unfortunately witness to. They break down the game, what went right for Las Vegas and what went so, so wrong for the Liberty. They don't spend too much time on it, though, because who wants to relive that bizarre game of basketball?

Instead, they get into the mess of the following few days. Sabrina Ionescu is a deeply divided character in the league, Kelsey Plum phrased a point poorly, which led to even more beef between these two rivals. And there's even some critique of how the media covers the WNBA, and how it's up to both the players and the reporters to right these wrongs as the league continues to grow exponentially.

Finally, they look ahead a bit at the futures of the two teams, and what they might try to do in the offseason to improve themselves for 2024. And they also look at their own futures, as it's only five episodes in and they already have to find non-game things to talk about.

Grace and Thomas are back after some Finals back-and-forth! Game 2 was a doozy, with the Liberty looking foolish and the Aces looking unstoppable. Then, Game 3 happened and the Liberty came out hungry, getting a big win to stave off elimination. An injury and a change of plans for both teams makes the forthcoming games a lot more interesting.

After Finals chat, Grace breaks some Phoenix Mercury news and she and Thomas discuss how coaching hires in the W signal a change in the way the league is viewed from prospective employees. And a discussion on the All-WNBA Teams leads into a chat about how wacky the league can be and how fun that is, as well as a good illustration of the league's relative youth to other (men's) sport leagues.

Finally, Grace and Thomas preview the end of the Finals, and talk about how a Gray injury can change the calculus going forward. And Grace puts to bed any discussion of a Candace Parker return (as well as exposes herself for not watching the Fast and Furious movies).
