FGC Philosophy

Last week I went to the Bendix Arena in South Bend, Indiana. Western Michigan University's Esports teams were invited to an invitational tournament against 3 other schools, and I talk about the experience. One of my jobs is Esports Coordinator/Head Coach of Western Michigan University, and as such I went with the teams to oversee the students. It was a two-day event and the teams competed in Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Battle at the Barn was a multi-game tournament hosted in Indiana. I went with Albion College as the Rocket League Coach. This episode is all about that event!

I was able to speak with Zaferino, a content creator, competitor, and coach for Street Fighter V. We get into a philosophical discussion about improvement, mindset, and much more. As always Timestamps are down below if you want to get right to the main topic!

Thanks,

I wanted to put out this short episode discussing Muhammad Bin Salman and his acquisition of the majority share of SNK, a game development studio best known for games like Metal Slug, Fatal Fury, and King of Fighters

In this episode, I go into detail about the Valorant and Rainbow 6 tournament we hosted at our esports arena at Western Michigan University. I ran directed production and assisted in the planning of the event as a whole.

Hi All!

Back with another episode, working on finding that format that really fits my style. In this episode, I get personal and share my progress thus far with some of the organizations I'm working with. I also get into a recent topic discussed by the FGC. Is the FGC getting too woke? Let's discuss.

Thanks again to the supporters! More episodes are on the way!

Editing is taking longer than expected! It will be out soon. In the meantime, I recorded a short supplemental episode. This episode is my impression of the GVSU Esports Lab. This weekend WMU Esports Teams competed in a 5 game grudge match to compete for a ”traveling trophy”. I hope you enjoy!

Hi all and Happy holidays! I've been under the weather the last few days and even lost my voice shortly after recording this episode.  Show notes are going to be minimal as my brain just can't seem to process much right now.

But the most important thing is thank you all and I hope you have a great holiday season!

The consistent content creator is consistent!

In this episode, we discuss the unfun part of esports. The stuff we sometimes don't bother to talk about but can be important to furthering your career in esports. I also discuss some personal updates with me and my journey

35:00 - Main Topics

1. Capcom and their new tournament License

Capcom recently updated their community license agreement on February 2nd.

This agreement has the FGC in quite the stir and honestly, I think their anger is justified.

My thoughts on Capcom's new license

It potentially pigeon holds the FGC and competitive players

Capcom is obviously making a bigger push for bigger competitions and wants to maintain control of that attention.

Ensures their events will be the biggest events.
