Fiction Fixation

Rose is opening the suggestion box just so you all can write in to Courtney and express how much this episode traumatized you BECAUSE IT TRAUMATIZED HER.

The 2023 movie Saltburn is a dark and twisty tale that, in retrospect makes a lot of sense, but in the moment you wonder if this screenplay was meant to be posted on a forum under a pen name and never to be seen by the masses.

Ah well, here it is. Our hilarious (because, duh, darkness brings out our funny)  and entertaining recap slash discussion of this crazy freaking movie. Hope you enjoy.

This week we recap the 2014 movie Age of Adeline, Staring Blake Lively and another guy whose name we can't pronounce. Also Harrison Ford! Join us as we have a blast discussing the events of the movie and wondering what the holidays are looking like for a woman who has a lot of awkward skeletons in her closet. Though they are nothing compared to what Daddy Ford is keeping in his shed of secrets.

This week, Courtney begs Rose or ANYONE to say 'syke'. That's because former president Barack Obama (can we call you Barry?) produced a too-realistic movie about the end of the world called Leave The World Behind. In this episode, we let our paranoia and anxieties shoot through the stratosphere in our hilarious recap of this probably really serious movie (do we take anything serious?). Tune into our hilarious recap and don't forget to leave a review if you're enjoying our podcast.

Welcome back to Fiction Fixation! In this episode, we dive into May December, a thought-provoking film starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. As always, we're your hosts, Courtney and Rose, here to bring you our unique blend of dark humor, insightful commentary, and pure entertainment.

Get ready for a rollercoaster ride through this emotionally charged movie as we dissect its intricate plot, explore the complex characters, and share our thoughts on the exceptional performances by Portman and Moore. We'll also discuss the film's themes and how they resonate with real-life situations, offering you a different perspective that you won't find in your typical movie recap.

But, of course, we can't help but sprinkle in our signature dark humor throughout the episode. From witty one-liners to irreverent observations, we're here to entertain and keep you laughing while we explore the darkest corners of May December.

So, whether you're a die-hard fan of Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, or just a movie enthusiast looking for a fresh take on a thought-provoking film, join us for this episode of Fiction Fixation. Grab your popcorn, sit back, and let's dive deep into May December with a dash of humor and a lot of perspective.

We are taking it back to the Y2K era to recap the 1999 crime thriller Double Jeopardy staring Ashley Judd. If your husband fakes his death and frames you for his murder, how far would you go to get revenge? Someone's about to double die, death squared. Murder to the tenth degree.

This isn't just a movie recap; it's a cultural deep-dive that will have you laughing out loud and viewing the '90s through a 2020s filter. As you sneakily listen in during your Zoom meetings, you might find yourself snickering out loud and calling embarrassing attention to yourself.

This week we embark on a journey of self discovery and deep contemplation. Just kidding, this week we are begrudgingly recapping Eat Pray Love, staring Julia Roberts. The movie is based on the real life story and memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert's.

We love pizza and cliches and by the end of this movie we were stuffed. So join us for a hilarious guided tour through the art of avoiding your responsibilities.

So, grab your favorite comfort food, settle into your coziest spot, and prepare for a hilarious and insightful recap of a movie that's as deep as a pizza pan.

Fiction Fixation: Where bad movies become good entertainment.

This week we dive deep into the insane 2019 crime thriller 'Above Suspicion', starring Emilia Clarke, Johnny Knoxville, Jack Huston. It's the closest thing to a true crime episode we will get, as this movie is based on the tragic murder of FBI informant Susan Smith.

The grittiness of the story only makes us double down on our dark humor and escapism. The setting (rural Kentucky) calls on Courtney to explain a number of country-living things Rose never knew growing up in NYC. You can expect our signature satire, sarcasm, dark humor, and of course a sprinkle of thoughtful reflection --because we sometimes have wise things to say despite our best efforts.

This week we had a blast recapping the 2014 Comedy The Other Woman staring Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann. What happens when an already unstable woman finds out her husband is cheating on her with Cameron Diaz and Kate Upton? Nothing good, I'll tell you that much. From crazy antics, weird life lessons, and wholesome (not really) girlie revenge, we take you along the wild ride of this rom com gem. Come and laugh along with us, we support women's rights AND women's wrongs.

Courtney and Rose bring you a hilarious recap Netflix's 2023 romcom "Love at First Sight" where no intrusive though go unspoken. A story about fate and how it brings bright-eyed bushy-tailed young people together, despite their stupidity. The dark humor is elevated by our recent binging of Criminal Minds, and the inappropriate humor is brought to you by our immaturity. Enjoy!

We survived creepy season recaps! Well, not so fast--Courtney brings us a movie that was as weird as it was interesting. A gas station night clerk gets held up in a robbery, but pulls an uno reverse card of epic proportions. Join us for our recap of the 2019 thriller RUN staring Josh Hutcherson and Tilda Cobham-Hervey.
