  • The Court Said NO. The Kennedy Center Board Did It Anyway.

A federal judge ruled that only Congress can change the name of the Kennedy Center. The Trump name came down.

You might think that would have ended it.

Instead, the Kennedy Center Board voted again, this time approving a new inscription crediting President Donald Trump with restoring and renovating the building, even though the renovation is being funded with $257 million in congressionally approved federal taxpayer dollars.

So is this a clever legal workaround, or something much worse?

This week's Worst isn't just about Donald Trump. It's about the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees and a much bigger question:

When does loyalty to a political figure become more important than loyalty to the institution you're supposed to protect?

    Chris breaks it down.

  • $20 Million for ICE Shock Gloves, With No Clear Rules?

ICE is preparing to spend as much as $20 million in taxpayer dollars on thousands of electrified gloves designed to shock people into compliance.

But there’s a much bigger question: What are the rules for using them?

Right now, ICE has a general use-of-force policy, but no specific publicly identified rules governing when these gloves can be activated, how long someone can be shocked, or what happens when their use crosses the line.

The manufacturer itself warns against using the gloves for verbal defiance or punishment and advises against prolonged shocks. And a lawsuit in Kentucky raises even more serious questions after a 43-year-old man allegedly was shocked 27 times with the gloves, along with 13 Taser deployments. The glove shocks have not been established as the cause of his death.

If ICE wants another use-of-force weapon, the public should know the rules before the gloves go on.

    What training will officers receive?
    When is shocking someone justified?
    How will activations be audited?
And what happens when the electronic record doesn’t match an officer’s use-of-force report?

This isn’t about whether ICE officers should be able to protect themselves. It’s about how much power government agents should have to inflict serious bodily harm without clear, transparent limits.

  • You Wanted Change. But Did You Vote for a Revolution?

Wisconsin Democrats just came incredibly close to nominating democratic socialist Francesca Hong for governor.

But this story is bigger than one candidate or one election.

Americans are demanding change on healthcare, housing, childcare, immigration, the cost of living and a political system many believe simply isn’t working.

The question is: when does reform become revolution?

There is a major difference between fixing institutions that are failing and deciding the institutions themselves should be dismantled.

In this episode of Fiercely Independent, Chris looks at the razor-thin Wisconsin Democratic primary, the growing influence of democratic socialism, and a question both political parties should be forced to confront:

Does public anger give political movements permission to tear down the system, or a mandate to fix it?

Change and revolution are not the same thing.

    Think Freely. Question Everything.

  • “I Can’t Prove It” Isn’t Evidence | Spot the Spin

What happens when someone admits they can’t prove a claim, then uses that lack of proof to make you suspicious anyway?

That’s the appeal to ignorance, a logical fallacy that turns uncertainty, suspicion, and “everybody knows” into supposed evidence.

In this episode of Spot the Spin, Chris breaks down recent examples involving election claims from Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld, and House Speaker Mike Johnson, and shows you how to recognize the tactic when politicians and pundits use it.

The next time you hear a claim built around a hunch, ask:

    • What exactly is the claim?
    • What actual evidence supports it?
    • What evidence would make them admit they’re wrong?

Because “prove me wrong” is not evidence that you’re right.

  • Trump’s Reflecting Pool Disaster Nearly Put an Innocent Man in Prison

A botched renovation. A vandalism story. And an innocent American facing up to 10 years in prison.

The Trump administration blamed vandals after problems emerged with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool renovation. But when prosecutors brought a felony case against David Hearn, the evidence pointed somewhere else: the contractor.

    The case eventually collapsed.

This isn’t just a story about a failed government project. It’s about what can happen when protecting a political narrative becomes more important than admitting a mistake.

This week on Fiercely Independent, Chris breaks down the Reflecting Pool debacle and why it earns the title of This Week’s Worst.

  • Trump Says It’s a “Golden Age.” Your Bank Account Says Otherwise.

Donald Trump says America has entered a new economic “golden age.” But who exactly is experiencing it?

Administration officials predicted explosive economic growth, claimed foreign countries were paying the tariffs, and celebrated supposedly historic exports. The actual numbers tell a very different story.

Meanwhile, Americans are still paying more for groceries, gasoline, housing, and everyday necessities.

This is not about party loyalty. It is about comparing political claims with economic reality.

Watch the full breakdown, decide for yourself, and tell me in the comments:

Does this economy feel like a golden age to you?

  • AIPAC’s Money Is Changing Who Represents You

Should local voters choose their representatives, or should a powerful foreign-policy lobbying network help decide the outcome?

AIPAC and its affiliated political groups spend millions supporting candidates who back their position on Israel and defeating candidates who challenge it. But many of the ads voters see barely mention Israel or Gaza. Instead, they focus on jobs, healthcare, manufacturing, and carefully selected personal stories.

This is not a debate about religion or ethnicity. It is a debate about money, transparency, political power, and whether candidates are being subjected to a foreign-policy loyalty test.

Watch the full breakdown, then tell us: Should organizations spending millions to influence an election be required to clearly disclose why they are involved?

  • Palantir: Big Brother Is Already Here

Palantir’s software does more than collect data. It connects government records, travel history, financial information, employment data, known associates, and other digital footprints to build a detailed picture of who you are and what you may do next.

The deeper concern is not simply surveillance. It is what happens when government agencies rely on a private company’s proprietary system, while the public has little ability to see the data, challenge errors, or understand how conclusions are being made.

Big Brother may not need cameras inside your home. It may already have enough data to predict your next move.

  • How One True Story Creates a False Narrative

A story can be completely true and still be used to mislead you.

In this week’s Spot the Spin, Chris breaks down the hasty generalization fallacy: when politicians and pundits take one example, a tiny sample, or an isolated incident and present it as proof of a widespread problem.

Before accepting the claim, ask three questions:

    1. How many examples are there?
    2. How representative are they?
    3. What is the denominator?

An anecdote may prove that something happened. It cannot prove how often it happens or how large the problem really is.

  • Why Does the Government Want Your Emergency Room Records?

Your name. Your address. Your diagnosis. Your emergency room visit.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reportedly wants hospitals to transmit identifiable patient records through a private third-party contractor by the end of the year.

The government says the information could help identify dangerous products. But that does not explain why officials need to know exactly who the patient is.

Where are the safeguards? Who can access the database? Could the information be shared with other agencies? What happens if the contractor is hacked, misuses the information, or sells it?

Going to the emergency room should not automatically enroll Americans in an undefined government surveillance system.

This week’s worst: turning private medical emergencies into government data.
