If you missed Law 1, Law 2, Law 3 and Law 4, please check them out.
Congrats! You made it to Law of Money #5.
#5 is the cherry on top of the first 4. We all know the cherry is the most important part of the sundae or cocktail. It's just not the same without a cherry.
So here's your cherry in the form of Law of Money #5. It might just be the most controversial of them all.

These Laws are inspired by the 5 Rules of Gold recorded in The Richest Man in Babylon by George S Clason and first published in 1926. I'm paying my homage to him and modernizing and feminizing them for today.

Here we are with Law of Money #4.
This is so crucial by way of follow-up to Law 3 so be sure you've checked out Law 3.
Laws 2 and 1 are also really good in order to get the most from this Law.
And remember, these laws were first published as ancient wisdom in 1926 in a book titled, "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Clason.

These 5 Laws of Money might be the only wisdom you need to get you to Financial Independence.
They could also be the catalyst that helps you get your money in order so that you can take the next steps.
They aren't overly complicated but they don't happen by accident. In fact, they take intentional action.
The Laws were first published as the 5 Rules of Gold back in 1926 in "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Clason. This week, I'm taking my stab at modernizing and feminizing them about 100 years. You might call it "The Wealthiest Woman in the World."

These laws come from a book first published in 1926 with all the male chauvinism you might expect. This is my attempt to bring it into a time almost 100 years later when so much has changed and yet so much remains the same. The book is called, "The Richest Man in Bablyon" by George S. Clason.

As you might have picked up on this show so far, money isn't the end all be all for us. In fact, we're not much into spending all of our time thinking about or making money. We'd much rather be doing something else.

So, we've tried to find the simplest (almost minimalistic) ways to set up our money systems so that they run efficiently and so we can do what we really love.

We take some cues from the ultra-wealthy but add a dose of the average person who's doing things right in there too. Do you think Warren Buffett got to where he is by accident? Do you think the average person is going to manage their money successfully by accident? No! We take control.

But taking control doesn't mean money has to eat up our time and energy.
This week, we're digging into 5 laws of money that are easy to understand, quick to set up, and can totally transform the next 30 years of your life. They might even be all you need to reach Financial Independence

You are likely familiar with the idea that the only constant is change. Change is always happening. Nothing ever stays the same.

Today, I want to explore what it might look like to hasten positive change rather than allow negative change to take over.
I've been using a helpful analogy for over a decade that's given me the perspective I've needed to stick with social change efforts.

September 24, 2020 [Social Change Part 4] Darwin's Evolution in 2020
While Darwin traveled the world doing the research that would eventually lead to his theory of natural selection, he wrote letters home to his sisters.
Interspersed with his cheerful narratives were requests for money from his father, Dr. Darwin. Because Darwin’s participation in the voyage was an independently funded enterprise, Dr. Darwin arranged for cash to be made available for his son at a succession of out-of-the-way places around the globe.
Darwin had said before the voyage that he would have to be "clever” to spend money while at sea. Amused, Dr. Darwin replied, “but they tell me you are very clever.” Setting sail for Tahiti from the coast of South America, Darwin wrote home to his sisters, “I verily believe I could spend money in the very moon. . . . My Fathers patience must be exhausted.”
Darwin would go from being a young spend-thrift to recording every single penny that went through his hands and saving 50% of his annual income.
He was a "FI"er way back in the 1800s.
But is 2020 still in the time of "survival of the fittest" or might his own theories be evolving... especially as it relates to the economy and YOUR money?

September 23, 2020 [Social Change Part 3] Adulting is Hard But Beautiful
Being an adult looking back at childhood is kind of like being an astronaut in space looking back at the earth.
As astronaut Rusty Schweickart puts it, "From the moon, the Earth is so small and so fragile... you can block it with your thumb. Then you realize that on that spot, the little blue and white thing, is everything that means anything to you - all of history and music and poetry and art and death and birth and love... all of it right there on that little spot that you can cover with your thumb. And you realize from that perspective that you've changed forever, that there is something new there, that the relationship is no longer what it was."

Seeing Mother Earth from the perspective of outer space has changed human history. We're different daughters now.

Turns out the mother/daughter relationship has something to teach us about the future of money and what is changing.

September 22, 2020 [Social Change Part 2] There's Something Happening Here
"For What It’s Worth" recorded by Buffalo Springfield starts, "There's something happening here / But what it is ain't exactly clear." It's a song of protest and often used as an icon for the 1960s. If you're not familiar, I'm sure there are videos on YouTube or you could watch Forest Gump and listen for it.

I used the lyrics to title today's episode because, in a series about social change, we need to dig into what exactly is changing.
It's not exactly clear from the outset. But there are clues in an ancient Chinese myth and a Nobel Prize winning chemist born in 1877.
What you'll learn today is that the sounds of change have been ringing we just need to stop and say, "What's that sound?"
