  • Annamie Paul & National Summits on Antisemitism and Islamophobia
Annamie Paul, leader of the Green Party of Canada, joins Libby Znaimer to reflect on what has arguably been the most challenging chapter of her political career. And, she tells us how the Green Party plans to fight a potential federal election in the coming months.
Later, Libby Znaimer is joined by Canadian Senator Salma Ataulahjan, Michal Schlesinger, Senior Human Rights Liaison at B'nai Brith Canada and Simon Granat, Senior Manager of Policy and Communications at The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA). Today, the Federal Liberals are hosting a National Summit on antisemitism. Tomorrow: they host one on Islamophobia. The move comes after a spike in hatred/racist incidents targeting both communities. Just last month, things turned deadly, when Nathaniel Veltman, a white, 22-year-old male ran over the Afzaal family in London Ontario, with a vehicle, killing four members. B'nai Brith says that as many as 2,610 antisemitic incidents were recorded last year. So, where do we go from here, and what do the leaders of both communities hope will be the outcome of these summits?
Finally, Libby Znaimer is joined by Doris Grinspun, CEO of the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO). Together, they talk about the RNAO’s call to mandate the vaccination of all healthcare workers in the province and why nurses are “leaving in droves”

  • Are You A Senior Manager Ready To Retire Amid The Pandemic?
Jane Brown is filling in for Libby Znaimer today.
First up, Jane is joined by the Strategy Panel with Karen Stintz, CEO of Variety Village, John Capobianco, Conservative strategist, Senior Vice President & Senior Partner at FleishmanHillard HighRoad, and Bob Richardson, Liberal Strategist and Senior Counsel to National Public Relations.
Sources have revealed to the press, this week, that a non-confidence vote against Green Party leader Annamie Paul as well as a party membership review has been canceled. But, now that the party's dirty laundry has been aired and a very public dispute between its leader and top brass have become evident, where do the Greens go from here and was it a smart decision to keep things the way they currently are? Meanwhile, the federal government announced that Canada will allow American travelers who are fully vaccinated to enter the country starting August 9th. However, the same policy has not been reciprocated by the Americans. Why? And, should the full vaccination of all healthcare workers be mandated? Premier Doug Ford shut down that idea this week despite groups like the Ontario Medical Association insisting that it should be a requirement. Finally, vaccine passports have been a hot topic of debate among the business community and within the context of travel. Our strategists weigh in on the latest.
Later, Jane Brown is joined by David Cravit, Vice President of Zoomer Media, Zabeen Hirji, Executive Adviser on the Future of work at Deloitte and Dr. Rick Hackett, Professor of Human Resources and Management at DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Organizational Behaviour and Human Performance, and Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association.
New research conducted by Deloitte in collaboration with LifeWorks reveals a trend of senior managers and executives of Canadian businesses who want a change due the way that COVID-19 has impacted their work-life structure. A little over half of 1,100 business leaders who were surveyed from companies including Bell Canada, and the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan indicated that they have been considering leaving their roles. Almost a quarter of those surveyed have expressed a desire to officially retire. Jane and the panel take a deep dive into just how this pandemic has pushed some leaders in the workforce to the brink and what else the research reveals.

Later, Jane Brown is joined by Dr. Adam Kassam, President of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA). The Ontario Medical Association wants to see COVID-19 vaccinations be mandated for all health care workers in the province. Dr. Kassam reiterates the OMA's position on this matter.
Finally, Jane Brown is joined by Kaspar Cameron, Manager of the Filmores Gentlemen's Club in Toronto. Kaspar's establishment has been making headlines for reasons you might not have immediately thought of. As part of stage 3 of the province's economic reopening plan, he has made the decision to mandate proof of COVID-19 vaccinations for patrons of his business. All of his staff have received full vaccination. Kaspar is like many other employers who have to make a decision as to whether they will mandate such a policy as a health and safety precaution. Kaspar details why he decided proof was necessary and other ways the pandemic has forced him to change the way his business is run.

The new guidelines allow for indoor operations to resume at 50 percent capacity. So, what are managers and owners of gyms doing to ensure that their patrons are safe as we continue to navigate the pandemic? And, how will they be operating differently in this new reality?

Movie theatres will also be able to reopen as part of Ontario's stage three of reopening this Friday, July 16 with a 50 percent maximum capacity in auditoriums.
